We finally got to eat at the Shrimp Shack and boy is it expensive! $33 for 2 sodas and 2 sandwiches. Food was OK....nothing over the top. Cool location...but would rather eat at any restaurant in the bight. Same view, cleaner atmosphere, real plates. One very bad point. The chef was smoking heavily.

eeeeeugh!

That was the opposite of what we noticed. Our meals were huge, one of the few places we couldn't clean our plates and we felt the prices were much lower than other restaurants. Our food was good, not fancy, just tasty and plenty of it.

I find them very reasonable and I've seen a whole lot worse things than a smoking chef. See for yourself:

What kind of sandwiches did you get? Do they really close at 3 PM on week days? thanks for any info. We were going to give them while we are there, but thought we would go for dinner. Rats!

Its a lunch joint because it's a fish house first, not a restaurant first. The staff has been there since probably 5-6am.

I'm with everyone else. I'm kind of surprised that you paid so much. I found the portions to be HUGE and prices very reasonable. Personally, I can't wait to go back. Hmmm, may have to make a trip there again this weekend. Now, where did I leave my passport?

I see they are open until 9PM on the weekends.I guess that is both Saturday and Sunday. So, I hope to give them a try. I am anxious to try their fried oysters! Yum! I sure hope we can find it. We are not very familiar with Stock Island. If anyone could provide some good directions I will print them off and take with us. thanks for any info.
