I just spotted this post, so not sure if you already did your vacation yet... Fishing in Tahoe isn't that great. If you go, I would recommend a charter to take you onto the lake. They know the best spots and have the appropriate equipment. Shore fishing, as a rule, isn't great in Tahoe. If you want lake fishing (trout), you can drive over to Interstate 80 and fish either Donner Lake or Boca or Stampede lakes. Donner has a public fishing area with bathrooms/fish cleaning station that is very clean. You cast your offerings to the trout from the platforms over the water. We've done VERY well there before. (Not sure how it'll be, as already Nov, and it might be abit cold, but you park your car right there and everything is nice and neat and clean). Boca/Stampede are also good, but you have to watch your road conditions, esp this time of year. You can fish from the dam at Boca for trout; we've done very well there too. Again, watch your weather, as it is very changeable in the Sierras. Good luck and happy fishing!
