I'm hoping someone else will chime in about best casinos and giveaways, as I don't do a ton of gambling.

For sights to see, a little more info would be helpful: Do you have a car? Any children? What types of things do you like to do? There are just so many possibilities that it would help to narrow them down with that little bit of info from you!

It terms of money coming back, the odds on table games are going to be about the same everywhere.

sorry yall I will be visiting Reno August 27-30 and I would like to see all that I can. I really like old Historic homes,something that has tours but I dont want to spend alot of money. I wouldnt mind walking and touring or looking at old homes,fort,battle grounds,etc things like that. I will be touring with a group no children. I turned down the boat ride on the lake. Would still be interested if any one has any good luck on slots,which casinos offer better odds at winning. Where is the best food?

You can hop on the free bus, the Sierra Spirit, which comes by stops every 10 minutes (you'll see the bus stops for it all up and down Virginia Street downtown) just to kill some time and look around. It basically loops from downtown up to the University and back into downtown.

As far as food goes, everyone's tastes are different, of course, and prices vary so much! That being said, usually people enjoy experiencing the Awful Awful burger at the Nugget (a small casino along Virginia Street) and Peg's Glorified Ham and Eggs on Sierra Street (locals favorite for breakfast). Personally, I love Roxy in the El Dorado for a "fancier" dinner; Lexie's in the Siena has an early bird dinner that is very nice and quite affordable, and the seating is right along the Truckee River so you get a great ambiance.

For slots, my wife has had good luck chosing the slot machines that paid off while she happend to be playing, at Harrah's and at Eldorado. But luck is relative to where the particular slot machine's random number generator is setting at the moment you press the spin button.

Random number generators are not truly random, so a machine can have streaks of "wins". It averages out over the long term, though.

"Give aways". Usually connected to players clubs. You can check your casino web site to see what is happening during your stay. But my offers always come via mail.

If you don't have a car, this may be tough (unless you can talk a few of the group into going in on a rental).

Virginia City is an old mining community, I'd say a little under an hour away. It was the center of the 1860s Comstock Lode silver bonanza. It is preserved today with lots of old buildings that have historic exhibits. shops, restaurants, saloons, and such. It's kind of "touristy," but if you like Old West stuff or mining history, you might enjoy it.
