Question on Uma Sapna Villas |
Sorry, I can't answer your questions specifically, but would be interested to know also, as it is one of the villas I have been considering (they do sound lovely!) In the past I have made several hotel reservations for Europe online, and this has never been requested - except that they would always take our passports from us on arrival to make police checks (and I must say that made me very uneasy at first until I got used to the idea!) But we have never had to do this in Bali if my memory serves me correctly. I would also have reservations about sending a copy of my credit card and passport. What do others think?
I haven't heard of faxing your credit card but Uma Sapna is a very legitimate villa complex - very nice place! - FYI It is policy/law here (hang over from the old regime I guess) that villas and hotels have to register overseas guests to the police i.e take a copy of their passports, nothing dodgy about it - in fact you should be more concerned if they don't ask to do it! but I haven't heard of asking to do it before you arrive! You could just let them know that you feel uncomfortable about faxing the information but you could email them your credit card number and passport number instead?
I sent them an email a few days ago and haven't heard back. Just explaining I was uneasy with faxing them all that information and if we could book the room without doing it. I haven't heard back from them which is odd. They have always emailed back within 24 hours. So that makes me weiry as well. But I will send another email and let you know what their response is when I get one.
I wouldn't worry too much about not hearing back... welcome to Indonesia! I would suggest to resend your email.. it could be a number of things - the usual person is away or because of the powercuts we are having at the moment and/or unreliable internet!
I did and heard back yesterday. They will not take a reservation without a deposit. They said I could mail a money order for 50% if I didn't want to fax my information. I think I'll take my chances on them having rooms available when I arrive. If not, there are plenty of other nice places to stay. =)

Hi there I have stayed at Uma Sapna and will be visiting again very soon. Yes, a totally trustworthy establishment. On my last visit, I thought my computer power pack had gone missing. The staff were very concerned when I informed them via phone to the office. They were in my villa in seconds. I had simply misplaced it much to my shame!!! The villas are great and highly recommended
