Trip report- Honeymoon day 1 |
Thursday July 10th So the day was finally here, we were on our way to NYC again, and this time we were on our way to our honeymoon. A friend of mine who lives in NYC had told me I should tell everyone we met at check in and so on that we were on our honeymoon, but as most Swedes I´m quite modest when it comes to things like that so to make it easy on myself I had ordered a T-shirt with the text Just Married July 5th 2008 on it, and I made sure to wear it on our "travel days", something that lead to a lot of "congratulations" from our fellow travelers as well as the flight atendants, and that was all I wanted really :) When it came time to be served drinks and a light snack on the flight however the flightattendants wouldn´t take our order, intstead they gave us 2 mini bottles of champagne and said this is for you from us. We were speachless, that was so sweet of them. After dinner they once gain came up to us, this time they had a cake with them, if I was speachless before I was cose to tears now, neither one of us had expected something like this, and where on earth had they found a cake on a plane halfway across the pond?? When we finally arrived after 8½ hours on the plane we had to wait 1 hour for the transfer to the hotel...that´s the last time I´ll use transfer arranged by the travel company. At long last we were finally at the Roosevelt and checked in to a very nice and big room on the 15th floor with a wiev overloking Madison Avenue, nice. As we had tickets to go se Spamalot that night we just rested for a few minutes before we headed out to try to locate the teater and to do some window shopping. Now let me give you a tip...going to a show that starts at 8pm when you´ve been on a plane for over 8 hours, and your body is still on "normal" time, which in our case was 6 hours ahead, not a good idea, by the midle of the second act our bodies thought it was about 3.30am and we were getting sooo tired....once the show was over we went back to the hotel and crashed into bed. |
Good start. Next time ask here instead of the travel agent. We would have told you to take a taxi. :)
whiz- the only reason we didn´t take a taxi like we did last year was that the transfer was inckuded in our package deal. Next time thugh, no package deals and no prearranged transfers, it´s taxi all the way LOL

Oh my, I don't know how you sat through a show after such a long flight, especially with the time change. Congrats on your marriage. It brought back memories of my engagement in Rome. On the way home my then-fiance tipped the flight attendants to our engagement and we were presented with champagne as well. It made me cry! Looking fwd to your next report.

"They gave us 2 mini bottles of champagne and said this is for you from us." ..... whoa ..... hey Michelin ..... the last time I flew all I got was a crappy little bag of 'Planter's Peanuts' and a napkin. So where do you get one of those 'Just Married' shirts anyway ..... and does it come in an extra large?
Congratulations Michellin. Nice that the flight attendants made a fuss of you on your special trip and looking forward to the rest.
Gongrats fellow Swede! I hope you had a great wedding day as well. Nice to see the flight attendents make such a fuss, you cant have flown with Continental. The t-shirts were a splendid idea...hhmm something to think about in the future, I am after all a shy Swede as well. Theatre the first night doesnt sound like a great idea no. Looking forward to next installment.
Lotus- found a site that will print any text you choose on a t-shirt...they´ll probably have x-large for you too...so now you can make an " Lotuspath- King of Tripadvisor" T-shirt for youreself ;) Matte- Tack :) No we flew SAS, and a t-shirt is a great way to tell people what you want them to know..without actually having to say it ;)
Hi! Great start to your married life- on your way to New York. I could feel a lump coming to my throat when you said the air crew gave you champagne! (mental note to self: get a t-shirt printed for next trip...) Looking forward to next installment. M
Hey Michelin ..... it looks like there might be a whole plane load of people wearing that 'Just Married' t-shirt the next time you fly. But no thanks ..... I think I like the "Lotuspath- King of Tripadvisor" idea better. Hey do you think that t-shirt could fit my entire self proclaimed title from a previous TripAdvisor thread ? *** His Royal Highness King Lotus ‘the First’ ..... Just Supreme Ruler of the Island Long ..... Lord Majesty of B’klyn ..... Duke of Kings County ..... Crown Prince of Billyburg ..... Kind Sovereign of the East River ..... Grand Monarch of New Amsterdam ..... Great Emperor of the Olive Garden ..... Earl of ‘The City That Never Sleeps’ ..... Royal Knight of the Eleventh District ..... Shogun of Times Square .... Hero of Unscrupulous Real Estate Brokers ..... CEO of Lotuspath Inc. ..... Big Kahuna of Thai Cuisine .... Grand Poobah of the Uber-Deleted .... Protector of the People of the NYC Forum ..... And ..... All Around ‘Good Joe’ ***
you might want to provide peopke with magnigying glasses if they are going to be able to read all of that Lotus....or put the text on both the front and back of the t-shirt LOL
