Hello! I know it's a little early for Halloween, but I am planning a trip to NOLA around Halloween time. Would it be better to go the weekend of 10/25-10/26 for Halloween related events, or would it be better to come the next weekend including Friday which is actually Halloween? Thanks for any feedback.

I would recommend coming the weekend of Halloween itself because this year New Orleans is inaugurating its first annual Krewe of Boo parade! http://www.kreweofboo.org/

Plus, the French Quarter and Marigny are really lively during Halloween, so you'll be able to enjoy more Halloween festivities! And it'll be more fun to take ghost/vampire/voodoo tours at that time.

Halloween is my favorite time!

We'll be attending Anne Rice's Vampire Lestat Ball and also the Endless Night parties!

We too are going over Halloween- airfare prices are good from the east over the actual date- we fly out of PIT on Thursday and return in time to vote on Tues for $170 pp/rt inc. all taxes- and as of now we still get to check one bag free on Delta. Trying to figure out some good and easy costumes for hubby and I. Thinking about dressing him as Jimmy Buffett and me as a parrothead (groupie). We already have (and wear- often) that garb.

Definitely plan to be there on Halloween night, not the weekend before.

We will be there, as well, for our 5th or 6th Halloween, as it is our favorite time to be in NO.

In addition the the inaugural Krewe of Boo parade there is also the traditional Jim Monaghan Parade, that Molly's at the Market organizes. You can participate, or ride on a float (for a fee) if you wish.

Bourbon Street will, of course, be full of revelers, with many interesting costumes.

A great party.

For the Krewe of Boo, it's a sweet $650, but for the "traditional" Jim Monaghan parade, it's $75.

And that doesn't include the $100-500 in throws that you have to buy in order to ride.

As with many Mardi Gras krewes, it can be pretty expensive to ride.

Nolaween is my favorite! Top 3 with Jazz and Mardi Gras. Get outrageous with your costumes, and have a ball.
