New Orleans in August with a 1yr old |
Hi, my wife and I are thinking about going to New Orleans in early August, staying in French Quarter. Is it family friendly and could we handle the heat with my 1yr old? |
Yes it is very family friendly. The heat though is something you will have to be aware of. Your Chicago weather is similar to our Cleveland weather. The heat and humidity down there is amazing. Just take your time when walking around the quarter. Drink lots of liquids, go inside restaurants with AC to let your child cool down. make lots of trips back to your hotel to cool off as well. I would suggest a hotel that is centrally located in the quarter so you don't have far to walk. Otherwise you should have a great time!

Definitely try to find a place with a pool, so you can take your little one in to cool off. I'm assuming you'll be using a stroller, and if so, know that the kids can get really HOT if they stay in it for too long...you'd be amazed how wet and sticky the back of their head and their entire body gets while sitting in one for too long! Also know re: strollers that the bigger the wheels, the better! The Quarter is famous for bumpy sidewalks and streets. But yes, it is definitely family friendly and if you search this forum, there are lots of posts about things to do with kids. Have fun!
