I'm looking for a place to stay for two nights in October near the Chambers Bay Golf Course. Hoping to find something less than $150/night. Thanks!

thats a new golf course for me, but looking its a nice area of Tacoma. Not too familiar with that area of Tacoma but University Place is very nice and near the water. You could stay right across the new suspension bridge in Gig Harbor if you do a google search.

Thanks davidqmq! The Best Western Wesley Inn looks like it will fit my price range. You will be hearing more of Chambers Bay as its hosting the 2010 U.S. Amateur and the 2015 U.S. Open.

Have a great round boo lew! I have played it twice, once with a caddy and once without. Fantastic course with world-class views from every hole. While in Gig Harbor try to have dinner at Brix 25, it's a treat you will appreciate. You might also try Tides Tavern, a local hangout with a lot of atmosphere, great food, and microbrews.

talked with my golfing friend and he says they are building a lodge there eventually but there isn't any accomodations close by. For the last poster from Fox Island, sounds like the BW could work for this poster? The website looks great for that hotel. Gig Harbor is very quaint and much nicer than anything I could recommend in Tacoma. You would have the toll bridge to deal with but not a big deal imo.

I agree that the Best Western is a well-run hotel in a very convenient location. If they would prefer accommodation in downtown Gig Harbor then look at the Maritime Inn. It is right across the street from the harbor and walking distance to restaurants and shops. There are no traffic delays at all with the new bridge, just remember to stay to the right on your way into Tacoma so you can pay at the toll booths. There is no toll going toward Gig Harbor.

Foxisle, thanks for the info. I wasn't sure where Chamber Bay was but I know that University place is one of the first exits off the bridge so figured Gig Harbor would be a whole lot more scenic than the Tacoma Mall area of Tacoma. Thanks for confirming.

Thanks foxisle for the suggestions, the Maritime Inn looks great. I'm checking for availablity there, my wife likes what she saw on their website. Can't wait to play the course, I keep hearing great things.

I played Chambers Bay ('CB') in May 2008, and stayed at the Liberty Inn in Dupont WA. This hotel opened in the past several years.

The Liberty Inn is about a 15-20 minute drive from CB on local roads (thus no need to get back onto the I-5 freeway, which can get very congested).

I paid $130 per night (inclusive of taxes), which also allowed me to have a complimentary breakfast, with fruit and bottled water.

[If you have time for another round, you might try the new Home Course (about $50 including tax) in Dupont, which although not as good as CB is about 7 minutes from the Liberty Inn.]
