Hi.

most use the dollar as its accepted by all, plus all tours are paid in dollars. make sure you take plenty of $1 notes to use for tips.

we are out there in august as well. also from essex.

cant wait.

I'd say Pesos were best to take, alot do only use dollars but the peso is more user friendly when outside the hotel, in my experience.

we took mostly dollars...however pesos do come in handy. Many shops including the IHD hotel shop, will tell you the price of things in pesos and if you ask them they will convert to dollars. the shops at IHD are reputable and they will give you the correct exchange. however, some of the shops outside the hotel where we went to buy souveniers they will tell you the price in pesos, and they will ask you if you payin pesos or dollars. they will then give you the dollars price, but the majority of the time, they added a few dollars here and there. when I confronted them about it they will say "im sorry it was a mistake". so if you plan to use dollars make sure you calculate the difference.
