Three years ago we stayed in the hotel next door, as we did not like the spa facilities that much and we felt that the regime in the restaurant was to much alive, we felt we had to change hotel again the next time we would return. During our week in 2005, part of the family ( we are 13 people ) walked into the Nordic Hotel. Their enthousiasm about the lobby and the facilities made us decide to book for 2007 again.
If only we were told that this hotel was build, ruled and designed for children!!!! We were not prepared for the enormous amount of children that stay there with their parents. And just to let you know, Spanisch children are allowed to do EVERYTHING untill they reach 21. They scream, run and are heard all over the hotel from 5.30 AM till 12 AM.
The solarium needs to be booked up front and can NOT be charged to the room ( neither can the sauna), they do not rent out bath robes, so you have to go in your bathing suit and hotel towel to the spa floor. On the way over there, there is a sign that reads " Do not go to the spa in your hotel towel, as towels are handed out at the spa". Little note underneath that should have been " and when you leave the spa dripping and cold, be aware that our staff will take your towel as that one is not to leave the spa area..."
Nowhere was it stated that you had to wear a swim cap in the pool. Of course when the moment is there, you have to buy one in the hotel ( costing you € 3,- a/p ) which are too small and give you a headache.
When you are trying to have fun in the bowling area, which closes at 12.30 AM, the not having any humor man behind the bar starts telling you at 11.45 PM that he will be closing soon, also he refuses to change money after 12 AM, because it might mean that when your game is a bit longer he has to make over minutes.
Besides all these things ( read screaming and running children around the table) the lighting in the restaurant which is way to bright and un cosy and the fact that you can not have a set table for the whole week, made us decide to have dinner in Andorra la Vella the last 2 nights, even though we had paid for half board.
Besides that every evening the front office manager ( long hair in a tail) was having his dinner in the restaurant, seeing him eat ( read; both arms on the table, slurping his food inside with just a spoon ) took our apetite away completely.
There were good things though, most of the staff were extremely helpfull and courtious, especially in the bar ( Patricia) and most of the serving staff in the restaurant. The rooms were ok ( although the beds were too hard, but that could be more a personnel opinion) and very well cleaned every day. A bit strange though to still find old blankets and sheets in a room in the year 2007 instead of duvets. It would not only be more hygenic as well as a lot warmer.... ( just a tip)
Anyway, I have read all the other reviews and although they were all very positive, we will never return to this hotel again.
