first off huge thanks to the owner Andrew whose spirit and personality permeates this great little carribean gem! the place is as open as he is! if you need a tour be it on the reef, diving, driving what have you he can do it for you but more importantly, in my humble opinion, if you just want to discover the beauty that Tobago has to offer (check out Pirate's Bay/charlotteville/castara & englishmans bay) Andrew is just as willing to tell u the best way to get there, even if is just 'liming' in Scarbourough! guesthouse itself is off the crown point resort area, close enough to the food and drink yet tucked away so that it was relaxed and peaceful too, perfect. spacious, airy, clean, well equipped with two kitchens outside seating, stayed in the dorm room in the attic woke to the sun coming in from the small balconies at either end. overall unbelievable value for money and would defininitely recomend it both for the single independent traveler and those who want to experience Tobago outside of a souless resort!!! cheers Andrew!

I stayed at "Candles" for a week while in Tobago for a wedding. To start with, a great location. Walking distance from a great beach, eating, and basic shopping. 25 minute walk from the AIrport, but you'd never know it - its quiet and peaceful. I never used the kitchens but they looked clean and well-equipped. My room was clean and had everything I needed, including air-conditioning. The owner Andrew was a gentleman and even got up at 5am to give me a lift to the airport. He gave me a key to the building so I could come and go as I pleased. I stayed with some folks from Trinidad and we took up the whole floor so we got the local group rate, it cost be about $30CDN a night - VERY well priced. Oh, and there's a great air-hockey table, perfect for a Canadian away from home!

I stayed at Candles for 7 weeks during June/July/August. It was a very comfortable stay and even felt like my home during those months. The guest house is in good location for Pigeon Point and Store Bay beaches and close by to some fast food outlets, restaurants and internet cafes. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the kitchen is well equiped. Andrew and Emlyn are very friendly and helpful and are able to offer good advice about the island. I have no bad points to say about Candles.
Thank you Andrew and Emlyn for making my stay a good one :)

I just came back from Tobago and I stayed at Candles in the wind. It was a great experience! The house was clean, and well in order. I would not hesitate to stay there again. Most of all, I felt like part of the family. The owner, Mr. Andrew is very warm and kind. His staff is just as nice. My room was a great size for the money, and the environment was informal enough that you can meet other guest. I cannot wait to go back.

We stayed at Candles for 3 evenings in June. It has a great location - within walking distance of the beaches in Crown Point, as well as close to some eating places. Emlyn, the housekeeper was great. She was helpful and flexible and was a great laugh. Room was simple, but a good size and great value for money. There was also a kitchen and facilities which you could use if necessary.
