Candles in the Wind

It was very hard finding some accommadation in tobago being a backpacker everything seemed to be quite pricey. But then i happened to stumble upon candles in the wind. It is cheap at only $23USDp-n for the dorm if you stay more than 7 days, which i did. They also have private rooms for a bit more i think its about $40USD per room per night. However i had the massive ´penthouse´i dubbed it as it is on the top floor and i had it all to myself.

It is very well located only about 15 minutes walk from the main airport where you fly into. 5 minutes walk to store bay or pidgeon point beaches, 2 mins walk from a little mini market. or about 20 mins walk to a huge supermarket.

The guesthouse is very very clean and very well equipped if you wanted to cook. They have an air hockey table(free) bicycles to rent(very hard seats but fun doing) and Andrew the owner can arrange tours and trips for you, aswell as moonlighting as a taxi driver if you need to get anywhere. He took care of us very well, when we cycled round part of the island he gave us a mobile phone to call him in case anything happened. He is very knowledgeable and very helpful. If you need anything he is the man to ask.

I had a very enjoyable stay here at candles in the wind and im sure you will too. I can not recommend this guesthouse more highly.

Brilliant Place. Close to everything, spacious clean comfrotable rooms, and overall. Excellent kitchens / wash / chilling facilties. Great owner, - local, accurate and trustworth advice better than any tour guide could offer. Nothing but praise for my stay. No qualms what so ever. Cheers for brilliant stay at great great island!

This is a really nice house, convenient location, clean rooms - all the basics are there. But the most important thing is that Andrew, the owner of the guesthouse, is the most helpful guy! Me and my boyfriend didn't plan the holiday very well and I'm glad we ended up in Andrew's place. Definitely recommended for budget travellers!

“Fantastic place to stay!”

Candles in the Wind

Me and by best friend Emelie stayed at Candles for 13 nights, March 2008, and absolutely loved it. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The location is great; close to some of Tobagos best beaches such as Pigeon Piont and Store bay. Shops, restaurants and everything else you need is just around the corner. The area felt very safe and secure.

Andrew, the owner, is a fantastic man, very warm and kind. He and his house keeper Emlyn are always there for you if you have got any questions. They are also happy to help you with arrangements such as Car Rentals or Boat Trips.

If we go back to Tobago, we will definitely stay at Candles again. I would recommend everyone that goes to Tobago to do the same!

“Warm and friendly budget option”

I would definitely recommend Candles in the Wind in Tobago. The location is great, being walking distance to the airport, Store Bay, Pigeon Point and local bars and restaurants. If you are looking for accommodation in the Crown Point /touristy area then this is a great option.

Andrew, the owner makes you feel very welcome indeed. He is very kind and has some excellent contacts in the tourism field. For example, I was able to get a personalised tour round the island at a very reasonable price and the reduced price for Buccoo Reef and Nylon Pool trip is definitely worth taking up.

If you are travelling alone it is warm and hospitable and there is the opportunity to meet up with people to socialise or group together for trips. I met some very nice people there. Likewise, it would be suitable for couples and families.

It is great budget option and my £20 a night room was very suitable and good value for money. The backpacker accommodation in the attic at approximately £12.50, Dec, 08 would be a good option also if you are saving the pennies.
