“Shocking food”

Well I've joined Trip Advisor just so's I can review this hotel...if you stay here, EAT OUT - don't believe the reviews that state the food is nice - it was absolutely shocking! The evening meal consisted of an ok carrot soup but inedible meat stew of tiny proportions (probably because you can't stomach much more) and the world's worst jelly dessert! I'm not exaggerating...all other hotels we stayed at during our Copper Canyon trip included lovely meals.
To be fair, our room was clean and fairly spacious but the shower was constantly freezing cold - not what you need when the weather's only 3 degrees outside at night.
In fact, whilst I'm at it, I didn't see the point in staying in Creel and would recommend to anyone to travel from El Fuerte to Posada Barrancas and back without travelling any further as that was stunning.

“Wonderful Homely Atmosphere”

Great family owned homely atmosphere. We came by motorcycle and the staff let us park our bikes in the courtyard. Found the info on there blog: [--] which was pretty kool so we thought we check it out. The food was very delicious and the dinning room was above standard with a beautiful mural. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and they have a nice little bar where many travelers come to in the evening. We really liked the homely feeling and the staff joked and laughed with us.

“Aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but would not stay there again”

This is a great hotel - rate includes breakfast and dinner. But beware - I was a "walk in" and quoted MX$380 for one night. However, the next day I met another traveller who was paying MX$300 for a double room! I returned to the hotel and asked to stay there and again I was quoted MX$380 and when I told them my friend was staying there for only MX$300 the sourfaced receptionist relented and let me have the cheaper deal. Later I came across an English couple who were only paying MX$240.
We later discovered that neither myself nor another traveller were "on the books" and that the receptionist was pocketing our MX$300 daily!

Aesthetically this is a great hotel. Rooms are clean and modern. However, security is lacking. I often returned to my room to discover the door wide open - giving anyone an opportunity to enter my room!

I would never stay in this hotel again. The customer service is appalling and the dodgy book keeping made me feel uncomfortable.

“Great value in Creel”

Margarita's Plaza Mexicana

Just returned from a Copper Canyon visit. Read all the reviews of this hotel and despite the horrible review one person gave it, decided to try it anyway. We found the hotel delightful, the meals good and the tour we took interesting. The rooms were very clean and tidy...nothing to complain about. We thought the person who wrote that terrible review must have stayed in a completely different place!! From the looks of other hotels in Creel, with perhaps the exception of the Best Western (we didn't want to stay there as we avoid "chain" hotels) this hotel looked to be the best. Don't be put off by the exterior. The courtyard, dining room and rooms are delightful, especially for the price!

“Friendly and comfortable hotel”

We stayed at this hotel for three nights in January 2006. The rooms are quite large, set around a central courtyard. Our room was clean and comfortable. The price includes breakfast and dinner. The food was fine, but there are better places to eat in Creel with more choice. Even eating out a couple of times, overall this was good value.

The bar and restaraunt, Tio Molcas, at the end of the road that the hotel is on, is a better place to eat and drink. Much more atmposhere.

The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful.

The hotel also organises tours. The one we went on was fine, but I recommend that you shop around. There are plenty of other tour providers in Creel and there is competition for tourists.

Overall a good value hotel. We would stay there again.
