“Very nice, modern, small hotel.”

A friend and I stayed at the B Akasaka for two evenings. This was a great value for the amount we paid ($150 per night for two twins). We were very impressed by how modern the hotel was and all the amenities (refrigerator, flat screen, nice lighting, robes, slippers, awesome coffee, computer in lobby). The rooms were quite small but were fine for our needs. Bathroom is very modern with many nice features but is separated from room by frosted glass which took a while to get used to. We really enjoyed the neighborhood around the hotel. It is walking distance to lots of bars and restaurants. We enjoyed being in a quieter part of town but having lots of options of things to do. There is a restaurant in the hotel but we never ate there. We found it easy to take the subway to other parts of Tokyo (Shinjuku, Asakasa). On the way in we took the subway to a central location (Ropongi) and then got a cab to bring us to the hotel. This was a good plan and was only 1200 yen or so. Hotel was very helpful in providing advice on getting to the domestic airport (Haneda). Highly recommend this hotel.

“Compact stylish hotel!”

The rooms are tiny! Having travelled and stayed in hotels around the world, this was the smallest I'd ever seen! Not particularly a bad thing though, the room was extremely clean and very stylish. There was enough space to put 2 medium-large suitcases (after a bit of rearranging!). The lobby is awesome, just like the website photos. There is a complimentary coffee machine (cafe style) and also a coin operated laundry with vending machines. Internet access is not great. There is one communal laptop in the lobby that has a constant line of people waiting patiently to check email etc. Otherwise, you can pay for in-room internet access. The hotel is located close to the train station but not easy to find, particularly with suitcases in hand! Be warned, there are over 30 steps between the train station and the hotel to take (uphill). Great little boutique hotel, recommended for those who don't mind small spaces!

“badly located and overrated”

The B Akasaka

I have tested 5 hotels in Tokyo over the past 2 years and this one in my worst experience.
First of all you must know that 90% of the taxi drivers do not know where the hotel is located since the name has changed mid 2007 and most drivers know it with its previous name.
If you decide to use the subway, I would advise you travel light because the hotel is on the top of a hill and you will have to carry you case(s) all the way up with unfriendly stairs or on unpractical sidewalks.
When it comes to the hotels it self, the rooms are clean but very small and you do not want to share the rooms with somebody you work with if you are not intimate... All bathrooms are separated from the bedrooms by a transparent glasswall. It's nice but not necessarily appropriate.
Beds are small, working table is nanoscopic.
Breakfast is ok.
And pay attention to the fact that you will heavily be charged extra fees if you plan to stay after the forecast checkout.
In brief, hotel to be avoided !

“Very modern, outstanding service, good location.”

I would highly recommend this hotel. It is well located between Roppongi, Shibuya and Ginza and is very well designed as well as beautifully kept. The rooms are small but this is no capsule hotel. If you are looking for a base to explore from then this is great but dont' choose it if you are looking to spend lots of time at the hotel.

The highlight for us was definitely the outstanding service. The reception staff could genuinly not do enough for us e.g. running into the street at 5am to catch a cab for us and tell the driver in Japanese where we wanted to go to.

Highly recommend.

“Modern design, good price”

The B Akasaka

I think the room is great. The atmosphere is also very good. I am totally agree with most of the review here that their room is very well design. The price is good as well. However, I have a few points to make which are

1: To me the hotel is set up for more of business people. As a tourist I found very little tourist information available.
2: The hotel is up on the hill side which mean a 10 mins walk up hill to get to the hotel. It is not that hard to walk but it is something that I do not look forward to after a long day walking around Tokyo.
3: I request a noon smoking room but the room I got is full of smoke smell.

If you know your way around Tokyo and do not mind walking or cigarette smell and you love modern design, this hotel is for you.
