Stayed at the Oakwood's studio apartment for only 3 days and totally enjoyed it. The location, rooms, service were excellent!
Location:
It was a 5-10 min walk from the JR Shinjuku station. Pretty straight forward if you take the west exit near Odakyu mall. Out of the exit, you turn right and walk striaght down all the way. You know you're in the right direction if you pass by an Agnes B outlet, Kentucky Fried Chicken & a Freshness Burger outlet along the way. The Shinjuku Nishiguchi metro station is much nearer to the hotel and provides easy access to Asakusa. Around the apartments, there's a great selection of food - from burgers to Japanese katsu and zaru soba. There are also several convenience stores nearby to pick up light snacks and daily necessities.
Rooms:
The studio rooms were small but cosy and definitely well equipped. The bathroom was spacious and had loads of cool features you would expect of a Japanese bathroom - tub that can be filled remotely, timed dryers to keep the bathroom dry and even dry your clothes, a warmed toilet seat, automated bidet... etc. I loved it! They also provide you with toiletries and towels. The kitchenette has a large fridge, a washing machine cum dryer that is easy to use if you follow the English instructions the apartment has thoughtfully left on the study table, coffee pot, kettle, microwave, toaster oven, stove.. everything you need to live there for a longer period. Bedroom has a double bed which was very comfortable for 2. But if you're bigger built, it may be more comfortable for 1. There's a huge flatscreen TV with cable access ( i.e English programs) but takes a little bit of figuring out.
Service & facilities:
Front desk was a great help. They spoke excellent English which helps when you can't speak a word of Japanese! They gave us good directions on how to get to and from the apartments, how to get around and gave a detailed brief of the apartments facilities which we could enjoy. They also had umbrellas for loan on rainy days. Also allowed us to leave our luggage for a couple of hours at front desk after checkout, before we caught the limo bus back to Narita. The Sky lounge provides agreat view of Tokyo at night and is a nice place to enjoy a night cap or a morning coffee. They charge very reasonable prices for beverages. All self service. At the business centre, there are 2 PCs which you can use FOC to check mail etc. Limited to 30mins use each time but that's only fair to other people who may need to use the PCs! There's also a well equipped gym and comfortable Japanese-style bath which charged upon use. You need to go to the front desk to make enquiries before use otherwise you can't get access to the bath.
Would definitely recommend this apartment to everyone going to Tokyo!
