“5 star luxury B&B”

Sacred Sands

Mar 30, 2008

Serene beauty, meticulous attention to details and comfort, this Bed and Breakfast is superb. The interior design and unique architecture paralleled the distinct natural beauty of the views of Joshua Tree National Park, nearly adjacent to the property.

The owners provided the opportunity to relax and enjoy a sublime experience. Guests are welcomed with homemake cookies, lovely teas, and amazingly delicious breakfasts.

Sacred Sands, The Four Seasons, The Peninsula Hotel...you can say them all in the same sentence! It was a treat to be there!

“Wonderful in so many ways!”

This is truly a beautiful B&B that is most definitely a labor of love for its owners, Steve Pratt and Scott Cutler. The hilltop location provides a sweeping view of the landscape and the design of the building itself compliments the natural setting, especially with the focus on making the construction as environmentally friendly as possible. Since friends of mine were staying in the other room, I was able to experience the feel of both, and each one provides a quiet (nearly silent, thanks to strawbale construction), restful and luxurious retreat. Steve and Scott have included so many great touches, like a huge walk-in shower, funky lighting, fantastic soaps and even cardamom infused peanut butter cookies!

The outside area has the feel of a Zen rock garden. I found lying on the "meditation platform" and star gazing both calming and exhilarating at the same time. Although I didn't use my hot tub, my friends certainly used theirs and had nothing but positive things to say.

The guys are great cooks and breakfast both days was innovative, fresh and delicious. I also had a wonderful time chatting with Scott and Steve who are gracious, intelligent, kind and fun. The combination of a beautiful landscape, lovely, peaceful rooms and caring, welcoming hosts, give Sacred Sands a wonderful, enlivening energy that I highly recommend experiencing if you plan to be in the Joshua Tree area.

Much thanks to Scott and Steve and best of luck!

“A Luxurious Getaway in the Desert”

Sacred Sands

Feb 7, 2008

We read read all of the wonderful reviews and decided to book two nights at the Sacred Sands. After our stay, we can say that the Sacred Sands is one of the finest places we have ever stayed. The Inn sits on top of a hill a mile from the entrace to Joshua Tree National Park. The views are stunning from the room and from the rooms private outdoor hot tub.

The owners are great cooks and make a gourmet breakfast that is very unique and delicious. The rooms are luxurious and the owners pay attention to every detail.

We would highly recommend the Sacred Sands and will definately return.

“The best weekend getaway of my life”

Sacred Sands

Sacred Sands is a fabulous B&B located 1 mile from the entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. There are only 2 rooms, each with a huge outdoor space with a private hot tub/spa and shower, lounging platform, and chaises. The bed is one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on, the shower has to be seen to be believed, and there is an amazing view from every part of the property. The lighting at night is very evocative and the place feels quite magical under a huge desert starry night. The home is built of strawbale, architecturally very interesting, and both
modern and elegant.

The hosts are charming and gracious, and great cooks -- homemade yam hash or chilaquiles with mole, grapefruit with cardamom, steel cut oats with fresh fruit, fresh squeezed blood orange juice. Yum! They can direct you to fun hikes off the beaten path in the national park, and also sent us to see a really interesting outsider art installation by Noah Purifoy at the end of a dirt road.

If you are looking for a very relaxing weekend away from LA (only a 2.5 hr drive), send the kids to stay with grandma and go. You won't regret it.

“A Rare Undiscovered Gem”

Sacred Sands

This little gem is one of a kind. I recommend it before the rest of the world finds it. There is nothing that even comes close to this in the area. Beautiful, serene, reasonably priced. Lovely, attentive and respectful owners. It is like having your own personal spa. Ton's of privacy. Right at the entrance to Joshua Tree park. I felt quietly pampered all weekend. The amazing adobe cave showers and outdoor tubs, luxurious bed and linins. I slept like a baby and left Joshua Tree and it's other-worldly beauty totally refreshed and renewed. Perfect for a spiritual retreat, honeymoon, couple's getaway or rent out both guest quarters with another couple.Thank you Scott and Steve.
