“Absolutely wonderful”

Cap Juluca

Jun 15, 2008

This is an absolutely great hotel if you can afford it.

We split our time between two hotels on our trip; Sirena and then Cap Juluca. Going from what had been a mixed experience at Sirena to then arrive at Cap Juluca probably enabled us to really see how you can have a truly great hotel stay in a small island.

Positives

From the point we arrived we felt like we were in a high class hotel which was small enough to feel personalised. Great welcome in the main house, welcome drinks, help with luggage until room ready, personally walked to beach and introduced to a beach attendant to help get us set up for the first day........

The attention to detail was fantastic; continental breakfast in your room daily (you have to request to go to the restaurant!), cooler boxes with water brought to you on the beach and beach towels, exceptional service in restaurants and easily available water sports (water skiing, hobies, kayaks and snorkelling). However, this is what you should expect for what you pay. The rooms were well designed and the impact of opening your folding doors each morning so that you can see the great view of the sea and beach were very memorable. Very good room service (maid visits twice a day) and fridge stocked up with beer, soft drinks and water for your arrival.

We ate at George's restaurant on the first day for lunch and then again for the Monday night special 'cook off' which was very enjoyable. Kemia and Pimms were the evening restaurant options and both offered very good service and high quality food (something the island offered as well based on where we ate). We also had a private dinner on the beach on our last night........hard to top!!

Good spa experience and gym was a good size and well equipped.

Staff were very friendly and very helpful everywhere in particular at the front desk where they helped with some very specific requests.

Beach was great, very clear blue sea and beds/umbrellas well spaced out so had a good feeling of space to enjoy the experience.

Negatives

Hard to really find any about the resort. I think the main thing to watch is the total price for the stay. Whilst you acknowledge that you are staying somewhere expensive the final bill has a number of extra charges which seem to be common on the island so not just experienced at Cap Juluca but it does mean that the final bill will be higher than you expect. The extra charges include a standard service charge per night per room, and the service charge is then also added to restaurant costs and beach drinks. This is at 15% a time so it does add up!!

Would totally recommend to anyone.

“Perfect Honeymoon!”

Cap Juluca

Amazing! We stayed at cap Juluca for one week for our honeymoon and couldn't have picked a more perfect location! When we checked in we were greeted with cold drinks and cold towels! We were in a shock because it is so nice there it looks fake! The beach is amazing. We have traveled to quite a few islands and this one tops them all by far!!! Our room was amazing, from our bed we can see the ocean and St.Martin! The water is so warm, like bath water! We went horseback riding, rented a car and explored the island, went to St. Martin for the day, snorkeled right on the beach in front of our room and went to many great restaurants! Blanchards and Zurro had amazing food. We also had a private dinner right in front of our room on the beach which was only $25 to set up, this is a must! Breakfast was delivered to our room every morning...muffins, bagels, fruit, tea...All free! Contact us with any questions....We want to go back already!!! I miss the 4 pm sorbet on the beach!

“Unforgettable Cap Juluca Experience....Seriously!!”

Cap Juluca

We just got back from Cap Juluca last night and couldn't wait to share our experience......OK....here is the low down.
What the Hamptons are for New York, Anguilla is for the Caribbean. This little island takes a great amount of pride in its pristine, white sand beaches and reputation for great dining experiences. This is a place to go when you want to disconnect from the world and let go of all the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Cap Juluca is not a five star property, however it is extremely charming with its Moorish villas and is situated on one of the most beautiful beaches we have ever seen. We were in a luxury room which was like a junior suite. It was very comfortable and spacious with wooden shutter doors that open up on a view that was out of this world. The bathroom was huge with an oversize tub and a big solarium just outside the shower.
It is a private crescent shaped beach that has sand that is like talcum powder. The water is a beautiful turqoise with shades of darker blue and you will want to spend most of your time in it.
Here are some key points that we would like to share...
1. Rent a car so you can drive yourself ... taxis are expensive. We paid $265 for 7 days + $6 per day for insurance. Don't forget to drive on the left!
2. Visit Shoal Bay....it's breathtaking.
3.Eat at E's Oven...Barrel Stay and the island's "IT" restuarant called Veya for great dining experience. Smokey's is great for a low key meal with a view...try the jerk chicken and the BBQ bacon cheeseburger.
4. By the way...15% service charge (tip) is automatically added to your bill.....we tip 20% so we just calculated from there.

The people of Anguilla are very friendly and helpful. We stopped to ask directions to Tasty's Restaurant and a lady jumped in her car and led us there!
FYI...My partner and I found everyone to be welcoming and warm and we did not feel out of place as a gay couple. This is predominantly a honeymoon vacation spot and we found EVERYONE that we came in contact with to be very nice.

Feel free to contact us with any questions.

“loved Cap Juluca!”

Cap Juluca

We just returned home from our honeymoon at Cap Juluca and couldn't have been happier with choosing it as one of our honeymoon destinations (we went to Puerto Rico for 3 nights prior because we had to stop there anyway). We won't be returning to Puerto Rico, but we will definitely return to Cap Juluca. One of my bridesmaids actually suggested it after she went there for her honeymoon last year. Anguilla was gorgeous and the food anywhere on the island was INCREDIBLE. We did Pimms for dinner our first night and the ambiance/view was so cool. The tables are literally a foot from the coral with little waves crashing up at your feet. The people are so friendly, it's safe and easy to venture out on your own, the water is sooooo blue and everything was just perfect! We had the best vacation of our lives here. The spa services were fantastic and we collectively tried 6 different massages and everything was top notch. Watersports are for the most part free and they stock your mini fridge in your villa. They bring you ice or anything at any time you want and drive you around the resort in golf carts to get to the main house or wherever you need to go. The villa wasn't modern, but we thought it was cute, comfortable, and definitely thought the place was worth it overall. The boat trip to Prickly Pear and little bay was a lot of fun as well.

    • Liked — the beach was amazing and all you had to do was raise your little red flag for service. they also brought you cold towels to cool off, sorbet at 3:30, and coolers with ice and bottled water. I was actually reading a beach novel and it was set at The Cap Juluca!

“Luxurious Seclusion”

Cap Juluca

This resort really gives you the feeling of secluded relaxation and luxury, we absolutely loved our stay! Starting with check in, the staff was professional and friendly. We were escorted to the library, given cold towels, rum punch and a map and information on the resort. Next the bellman took us to the room, giving us more info about the property, he showed us around the room which has great amenities and some complementary beverages (including rum) in the fridge.

We had wanted to stay 4 nights but only 2 nights were available during our stay. We had a Superior room, which was nice but the next time I would definitely upgrade due to the bathroom size. The room was very nice and spacious but the bathroom in this room has a shower only (no soaker tub) and although well appointed, seems a little small. Comfortable bed, very nice patio area and your own walkway directly to the beach. The nice thing about the shutter doors is being able to hear the ocean at night. The property is older and some may find the rooms in need of some updating but I found them charming.

The beach attendants were very pleasant; the umbrellas were already set up each morning when we arrived. They provide you with a small ice chest filled with cold water. They will also provide drink service upon request and serve sorbet in the afternoon.

Complementary breakfast is served in your room or the outdoor restaurant. We had in room both days and it was served exactly when requested and was lovely.

Both of the restaurants were very good with a wonderful view. Kemia’s has tapas that were all wonderful. We also went to Pimm’s where Wilma welcomes you as you were part of her family, and the dinner was delicious!

Beach was beyond beautiful which is where we spent the whole day. We looked at the pool area and it was fine, but not the type of pool which many people would expect at a luxury resort.

The resort is very spread out which is what gives you the nice secluded feeling. It’s a bit of a walk to the restaurants and bar but they will give you a ride upon request.

If you are looking for a quiet, secluded luxury getaway with great service you will not be disappointed!
