Curtain Bluff Resort

Recently retunred from a break at Curtain Bluff in Antigua, where myself, my wife and 6 month old son had a fantastic time.
We had our concerns about taking our son, especially after reading one review, but the hotel staff were fantastic, 100% accomodating and they simply could not do enough for us.
From the very moment we arrived we we greeted by friendly faces, who loved the fact we had our son with us, and they simply went out of their way to help in any way possible.

Rooms:
We stayed in an Executive Deluxe room on the Bluff, which really suited our needs, as the main bedroom/living area was quite spacious (even with the cot they provided in it), as it housed a huge bed, large sofa, and the usual chairs, fridge/mini bar etc.
The balcony overlooking the bluff was fantastic, and spacious too. Some items of the decor in the room may have been a little tired, but overall we loved the colonial feel to the rooms.
As this was our first time as Curtain Bluff we were unsure what type of room to book, but having looked around the Junior Suite and the Executive Suites, I think we made the right choice this time.

Dining:
The overall eating experience at Curtain Bluff was excellent, from a good choice at Breakfast, to the informal lunch served at the beach bar (either Buffet that changed daily, or from the Menu), right through to the 5 course dinner in the main area. The food was excellent, and the service first class, with the staff helping with our Son, being friendly yet polite and courteous.
Room service was excellent also on the evenings we decided to dine in our room.
What was a really nice 'touch' was the fact that the owners, Michelle and Howard, dine 'with the guests' at all 3 meal times, not in your face, but relaxed, and they always came over to say hello. Lovely people.
On top of this, afternoon tea is a nice touch, and pre-dinner drinks are also a must.

Beaches:
First class. Calm, uncluttered and clean, with excellent service from the bar staff, an array of activities are available (most FOC), and the Pool is also excellent.

Fitness / Spa:
Made good use of both, with the Gym / Fitness Centre offering standard cardio workout options, together with free-weights and weight machines. Yoga on the deck outside the gym was also a must and I recommend.
The new Spa is first class, you have to sample a treatment there, with views over the sea it is very tranquil.
There are other activites also available, that we did not try, such as Tennis, Squash, Pilates.....but we will be trying them all next year!

Overall, we had a lovely time, and we aim to return next year, which is unheard of for us as we never return to the same place twice normally.
Having stayed at some first class AI resorts (One & Only resorts mostly), this resort was first class. Not in the same 'class' as some of the One & Only's, but not as 'stuffy' either, and we loved the friendly, family feel to the place.
The staff are great, all of them, from waiters and bar staff, to the concierge and management team (who really did go the extra mile for us), to the cleaning team, and all of them were just so friendly.
If you are looking for luxury in a beautiful, friendly environment, good food, great beaches, lots to do for all the family, then this place has to be top of your list.

I went there with my family of 8 year old daughter and 18 month son.

I think the hotel is trying to pitch itself as family friendly for the summer months.

Good
Lovely calm beach, quite intimate, excellent food, great live music and spacious rooms.

Not so good
A bit tired, not as upmarket as price would suggest, very limited choice of wines on A/I and staff aren't quite there on accomdating children.

Would have worked well if we just had our 8 year old.

Having stayed at lots of very good A/I resorts I would say to give it a try.

Location, Service, Food, Comfort, 10 out of 10.
Don't expect a new up to date hotel all gleaming etc. This is a terrific, but understated hotel, very much built in old Colonial style, with supreme comfort. The staff simply cannot do enough for you. There is only one restaurant, plus the Beach restaurant at lunchtimes. We tried to eat carefully so as not to put on weight, but the food is just SO good, that the clothes were definitely tighter at the end of the week. The menu changes every single day and EVERYTHING is cooked to the highest standard. Live music every single night and we were there on the last week of the season too. They have a fabulous Spa, with a fantastic view from the jacuzzi half way up the bluff. Plus a superb tennis centre and new gym. For a totally relaxing holiday, I couldn't recommend any higher.

I looked at the reviews on TAdvisor and saw all the rave reviews and decided to book in. Fully prepared for mediocrity given the unlimited food and drink, I was absolutely gobsmacked at how wonderful food and drink wereincluding the portions and the availability. The staff couldn't be nicer and the grounds amazing. Fantastic spa, tennis and ocena and carribbean beaches.
Went over to see the new, swish resort just next door and found it overbuilt, over priced and rather unfriendly....the comparison was unbelievable.
I'm sure this review surprises no one who has been there but still thought they deserved another review from another happy visitor!

We stayed at the resort the first week of July. Recommend having the hotel arrange for a car from the airport. Ask for Bobby. He became our tour guide for the whole week ( not that you need to leave the resort... ) Everything was amazing. After we arrived, the front desk manager gave us a quick tour and took us to our room- our luggage was already there! We had a jr. suite- wonderful large tub and nice shower. It seems that you never even see the staff, but when you return to your room at any time, you have fresh flowers daily, clean towels, changed sheets, filled ice bucket, re-filled fridge ( stocked w/ beer, soda, bottled waters... ) THe best part was it being all inclusive- no tipping and the only things we spent money on were spa treaments and wine from the cellar- (which is amazing!) We got a personal tour from Glouster- he was very knowledgable. THe watersport staff was great as well. We have a food and wine background and were very impressed with the (complimentary ) wines and food. We will go back!
