“Dated condos, good location”

We just returned from a week at Antigua Village. We stayed in V8 which occupies the 2nd and 3rd floors. The room itself was decent. On the second level there was a full kitchen, living room (with a pullout sofabed) and two balconies, one overlooking the pool and the other overlooking a parking lot. On the 3rd level there was the master bedroom and a bathroom. It was a bit of a hassel having one bathroom and it being located on the 3rd level. There was daily maid service but it is more just sweeping and taking out the trash. We happened to be in the room during one of the cleanings and I saw the maid use one of my kids pillows to brush the sand off the sheets. I am guessing that the sheets do not get changed during the week. The outside of the condos look very dated. The grounds aren't extremely well maintained. The hotel advertises that they have a beach, but they really don't. The properties on either side of Antigua Village have proper beaches while Antigua Village has a rock wall with steps down to the water.
Overall, the things we liked....plenty of space in the condo, easy access to two good restaurants and lots of beach activities.
What we didn't like....$7 per day charge for air conditioning, very noisy rooms especially when Sandals (next door) or the restaurant next door is playing music until late at night, no wi-fi, old looking rooms and buildings, disappointed that there wasn't a beach.
All in all, it was an okay place to stay but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and would not stay there again.

“Beautiful Island!”

Antigua Village

I was slightly apprehensive after reading the last comment , especially as we are two gay women, however our stay at the Antigue village was great. We swapped our 5 star timeshare for the Village and it certainly isn't 5 star standard. Our room was very dated, especially the bathroom however the location and grounds more than made up for it. The staff were helpful and the locals were polite and never pestered us. The local restaurants are good although a bit pricey but on the door step. I would definately recommend this resort and the Island of Antique. Hire a car, no road signs but it's a tiny Island so you get to be familiar with the roads, and you will stumble on the most beautiful beaches which are absolutely deserted apart from a small beach bar.

Have traveled all over the tropics and will not return to Antigua. It was an ok vacation. Exchanged my timeshare and stayed in a studio at Antigua Village. Studios very spacious with full kitchen and cozy living area. Beds however were awful. The put two beds together so my partner and I kept falling through the crack when we tried to cuddle and you can imagine what happened when we tried to be more romantic. Bathrooms small and a bit stuffy but good bath products and shower spacious despite the overall small bathroom. The grounds of the resort georgious and well maintained. The pool was under construction but were allowed to use sister pool next door. We had most of our dinners at the Beach Restaurant next door. Food okay. and atmosphere great. The tables are literally on the beach in the sand. I enjoyed the local beer and brough our own wine once. The waiter had become acquainted with us so no corkage fee. Went to the Coconut Grove one night which is the more expensive restaurant. I had fish and I got violently ill afterward. There is a small store at the resort to get basic food supplies. The biggest disapointment was the locals who walk around Dickenson Bay and hit you up for just about anything including sex, drugs and various tours. My partner and I were agressively pursued by a local, "Snoop" who was very disrespectful and seemed to stalk us to the point we complained to security. He kept hitting on my girlfriend in front of me (we are both woman) and offered us drugs. I am a cop and when I finally told him this he eased up on the dope but still was sexually harassing us. I finally lost my temper one night when he decided on his own to join us for dinner at our table. One of the other locals we made friends with assisted us in asking him to leave. The following morning, we had blood all over our balcony and we wondered if it was him trying to scare us or some poor animal sacrifice. He almost ruined the trip for us. Two of the locals who work down the beach at Tony's Water Sports made us feel safe and were entertaining. Smokey and Footie took us snorkeling and sang Bob Marley to us as we cruised Dickenson Bay. Their Boss Tony however, ripped us off $40 when our circumnav boat trip was cancelled and he suddenly disapeared despite being ordered by the company to return our money. I do recommend the Catamaran trip to Barbuda. Any of the locals employed at the various beach businesses can book the trip for you. We used "Marvelous Marvin. It is worth the money. Barbuda is a beautiful island, good food and plenty of rum punch and beer. I also recommend the kayak adventure tour through the Magroves. Probably the highlight of the trip and they will pick you up at your hotel. We also enjoyed the "Fruit Lady" who parks her car in the hotel parking lot. She is very charming also and we enjoyed talking with her and supporting her business. We rented a car one day and I don't recommend trying to drive or park downtown. It was terrifying. Roads very narrow and chaotic in the downtown area. We drove around the island which is very beautiful. Especially liked Darkwood Beach which has a view of Monsterat and great Beach bar/restaurant. Had dinner one night up the street at the steakhouse/pizza place. Food good, service not so good. I had my fill of Antigua. The two bad experiences with sketchy locals however have left a bitterness in me.

“Nice”

Antigua Village is not fancy, but it is a perfectly nice resort on Dickenson Bay (the main tourist beach in Antigua). The grounds are very well kept, and the pool is small, but nice. The staff is exceptionally friendly. A couple drawbacks--the beach is shared with other resorts and can get crowded, and the restaurants within walking distance not great. The Beach (restaurant) is hit or miss. Coconut Grove is always miss. Still, overall I enjoyed my time here and I'd definitely recommend it.

“Very nice place”

Antigua Village is a collection of Apartments in a small village like community in St Johns..The Apt we rented was 43B which was a second floor studio...The room was huge for a studio with a huge balcony, this place was twice the size of a normal hotel room..The room had everything (Dishes, silverware, glasses, stove, microwave, sink, fridge,Ice cold AC)..It was well worth the price ( $80 US per night)..The grounds were beautiful , full of tropical fruit trees and very well maintained..The beach and swimming pool were a few steps away..Security was top notch, always saw guards patrolling ( very safe place)...Security was very friendly and made the stay very enjoyable, the office people not as friendly...As for the Restaurants on the property the only one we attempted to go to was the Coconut Grove restaurant..We walked in, looked at the prices and walked out... Ridiculous prices compared to restaurants off the property...Overall Antigua villiage is highly recommended..One restaurant that I have to mention because it was the best(in my opinion) on the Island was La Bistro..
