Booked our stay directly with the owners of A1 Apartments.
They picked us up at the airport and from the very beginning gave us the Grande tour. Once at the apartments, we were treated to a cold drink and introduced to the rest of the Kemp family. Our room was wonderful, with separate living and bed room. I nice kitchen and best of all the open porch. Located on the second floor front. Treated to the constant breeze. When not out and about the island it was the place to sit back and read a book and have a cool drink. They even had a small library to select from.
We had a few meals with the Kemp's. Just like being part of the family. We met another fine couple who were on their 7th. annual stay at A1. They were from UK and said they will never go any place but Aruba and A1 for the rest of their life.
It's nothing like the fancy high rise hotels along the beach, but it was like home. And, at a fraction of the cost!
What fancy hotel would give you the use of a car, a friendly good morning greeting or local flavor. Not a one of them.

We've now had six great vacations at A1 Aparments, and the seventh will be January 2006!
We first picked A1 Aparments on the Web because of the modest price, but we would now never stay anywhere else at any price. Family Kemp are the perfect hosts - friendly and helpful, buit not "in your face". The rooms are well-equipped, clean and comfortable. Perfect location, a 10 or 15-minute stroll gets you to the heart of town, or to the nearest beaches.
