Some friends of ours have a timeshare in Aruba and and my wife and I wanted a place on the ocean.... We looked at other places in books and online and found LaQuinta. We didn't know what to expect after reading mixed reviews. We left the Boston area Saturday morning (April7,2007). When we arrived in Arubaand got done with the airport deal(baggage, car , etc.) we just wanted to go to our place and change . When we got to La Quinta , we checked in.At the front desk , McKeisha and Lugena , immediately welcomed us to the resort and my wife and I were very impressed with their professionalism and eagerness to help us through the check-in and to get us settled. That night our refridgerator wasn't staying cold(stuff happens), Again talking to the front desk Lugena (I believe) called the maintenance person and explained the situation. It wasn't even 5 minutes before he came to the room looked at the fridge and IMMEDIATELY replaced it. The food was awesome at their pool bar and the bartender Urwin makes the absolute best drinks.....especially "REVENGE".....I could go on and on about the La quinta and their OUTSTANDING staff and resort but you need to go there and see for yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Our stay at La Quinta in '05”

This is a belated review of our stay at the La Quinta a year ago, just before Christmas (week 50). The other reviews said most of what I would write -- mostly good stuff.

Acquaintances of ours were due to use the accomodations via a timeshare swap but other commitments came up and so they made it known that they wanted to "sell" to someone who could use it. We took the bait and we weren't sorry.

In fact it reawakened our desire to look into buying timeshare. We looked into "repos" or other private sales of weeks at La Quinta and other places and of course took some of the timeshare presentation tours.

I stayed at La Quinta from September 17th to September 24th. I used a timeshare exchange company to book my room. First off let me give you the negatives.
1- There is a mandatory $20.00 fee to keep the pool bar afloat. If you don't use the $20.00 at the bar you lose it.
2- Checking in the lock on one of the doors didn't work with my key, the toilet leaked onto the floor and the lights in the hallway were burnt out.
3- During the weekend the beach gets noisy at night when the locals use it to speed on the street.

Now for the positives:
1- The staff are great. Anne Marie my room attendant and Jackie at the front desk stand out but everyone there offered help when needed.
2- The location of the resort is right across the street from Eagle Beach. The resort has a person on the beach to lay out your chairs and sell beverages.
3- The room was cleaned every day. This is uncommon with time shares.
4- It was so peaceful. The other people in my area(phase 1) were all veterans of the resort and made you feel so comfortable.
5- Rented a car and was able to get anywhere without much difficulty. The rental office is on the property.
6- The bar ( where I laid aout a $20.00 deposit) was great. The food the drinks and service were all good. I guess the deposit is now a moot point.
7- I stayed in room 111 and it was within jumping distance of the pool.
8- The grounds were kept clean.
As for no activities, rent a car and explore the island or drive to a casino or into town. Everything is close by. Dining was my biggest problem. There are so many good places to eat. Two that stand out are Madame Jenettes and The Buccaneer.
La Quinta is for those of us who want to lay out near the pool or on a beach and not have to listen to loud music or loud noises. ( Except weekend nights) It's small and it's designed for relaxation. I own two timeshares in Florida and I was inquiring about buying one at La Quinta. A good place. WHO KNEW???

“Better then expected”

We just returned from a week in Aruba, 10/22/05 -10/29/05. After reading some of the reviews for this resort I was somewhat prepared not to like it. It is a moderate resort, and yes, there are not any amenities but, and this is a big but, it had daily maid service . At time shares, maid service is always once a week. The unit was a one bedroom and was very clean, more then ample towels, had two full bathrooms and although not fancy, everything was in good condition. The beach is across the street and it is pretty much a private beach. The distance between LaQuinta's beach(Eagle) and the next hotels on both sides leaves lots and lots of room. There is a small restaurant on site (for drinks, lunch and dinner) which was OK. The resort is very conveniently located from the airport and pretty much any place you go along the coast. We would not hesitate to go back there.
