“Good-value hotel in a great location!”

We weren't expecting anything amazing from Brickell Bay as we had booked it via a last-minute cheap deal from First Choice Holidays. However, we were quite pleasanly surprised. The hotel had a nice facade, the reception area was quite nice - not flash but quite nice and Caribbean-y. and check-in went relatively smoothly. The room was massive and really quite comfortable with a lovely big bed and it wasn't the cleanest room ever but it was generally ok. The colours were lovely and bright and it really had some character. The bathroom was probably the worst bit - quite scruffy in places - but it did the job. There was a coffee maker (but you have to buy your own coffee when the first small bag runs out) and an ice dispenser down the corridor. The water was generally nice and hot, The view was quite nice to the right but there was a big car park to the left.

We ended up spending quite a lot of time around the pool as the pool area was really quite nice. Plenty of sun loungers (although the umbrellas could dangerously fall over when it was very windy - which was a lot of the time) and the pool was lovely. Somebody dropped a glass in it one day but this was cleaned up and the pool cleaned thoroughly straight away. The pool bar was good. Limited drinks choice but you could sit at the bar whilst in the water and the lady there was friendly. LOADS of iguanas about who would come and sit on your sun lounger - very funny but not great if you happen to hate them!

The staff were hit and miss, some of them very friendly but others abrupt.

The location was great really, not as close to the beach to most of the hotels in Palm Beach but you can just walk out and you're right by all the restaurants unlike some massive hotel complexes where it would have taken a while to get anywhere. The hotel has its own beach space with free sun loungers but you have to pay for umbrellas.

The attached restaurant did great pizzas but not too much choice for breakfast and quite dear too.

All in all, a comfortable and great value stay!

Don't trust what is saying intheir website. only very few rooms have been renovated and donot expect to get its until...you complain about the disgusting rooms, rotten smell, moistures they first propose you.
Don't even try to have any meal or breakfast in the attached restaurant. On top of getting you sick, you pay a max for that.
Nevertheless, Aruba is great and lovely island with lots to do from beach to inland nature adventure...Go there but choose a decent hotel.

stayed here in june 2007. hotel was very musty and damp and didnt get a very warm welcoming.

the staff were very nice apart from the nasty hotel managerwho spoke to us very abruptly after we had to have our room changed due to a leaking seilingin the bathroom which was clearly not our fault unless you wash on the seiling!?!?!?!

THE POOL AREA WAS VERY NICE AND QUITE UN LIKE THE BUSY HOTELS SURROUNDING BUT THE HEN THAT RAN ROUND YOU CHASING LIZARDS ALDAY BECAME ANOYING ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ROBBED OUR FOOD!!!(quite amusing now)

Shower water trickled out so was hard to wash, the free shower on the beach was better than the one in the hotel room.

DO NOT STAY HERE.... YOU WOULD BE BETTER OF PAYING THE EXTRA TO STAY IN AN UP MARKET HOTEL.

“Beware the MILDEW!”

We were stranded an extra day in Aruba when the storm came through last week, so we ended up at Brickell Bay. The check-in process was a little slow, but people were friendly and worked everything out. But THE ROOM! EEEK! I have never stayed ANYwhere that I felt it was dangerous to my health before. The mold/mildew smell in the room was astounding. I don't even have any allergies, and I'm not at all a hypochondriac, but I would bet that a week here would make you ill. Some friends who were also caught here at the last minute had a room that smelled the same. The bed was comfortable enough, the bathtub slippery, and the stairs - be careful. I realize they don't often have the rain we had, but a simple mat at the bottom of the stairs would be a good idea. Our previous night at MVC Eagle Beach was SOOO much better. Wish they had had a room for another night.

“Great value hotel!”

Brickell Bay Beach Club Aruba

Stayed at the Brickell Bay from 20th June for 2 weeks with my boyfriend. Was a bit apprehensive about staying there as had read mixed reviews of the hotel with lots of complaints.

So when we arrived i had very low expectations, and i was pleasantly surpised.

The pool area is quite big with loads of sunloungers and was always fairly quiet. The swim up pool bar is a nice bonus as well! It was not always open but when there are only 2 people by the pool, u cant really blame them for not opening it.
There are loadas of lizards and iguanas around the pool area just chilling out which was quite cool. They are quite tame and not really bothered about the people. They were always happy to jump up on to the sunlounger next to me to help me eat my crisps, fruit and raisins!!

The hotel room itself was really big with 2 double beds, a big tv with lots of channels (american mainly), and the bathroom was good as well. Shower was surprisingly powerful and you could have it as hot as you liked or as cold as you liked.
We did encounter a few problems with the safe, but the maintainance guy was always on hand and helpful in making it work. Rooms were cleaned every day which i was also not expecting - so that too was good. Air conditioning was a blessing - if a little cold at times but thats only cos my boyfriend likes the cold!!

The only downside to the hotel room was that it didnt have a balcony or terrace, but we knew this when we booked so were not disappointed.

The beach is only a 2 minute walk away and if you sit in the bit designated for Brickell Bay you get free sunloungers. The lady Sandra who runs this is really friendly and has drinks that you can buy for $2. She also arranges watersports such as jet skiing which my boyfriend did and really enjoyed.

About Aruba........there is so much to say so ill try and sum it up.
Great choice of restaurants and beach bars, Moomba near the Marriott is a nice bar / restaurant and also has a lovely buffet breakfast for $10 - bargain! If you go to Azzuro the Italian restaurant you must get the special, which is a cheesy pasta flambed in a huge parmesan cheese at your table!

Beaches are lovely - pure paradise with amazing sunsets!!

Make sure you get out and about and do some day trips, the jeep safari was so much fun and you get to see a completely different coastline to the one down in Palm / Eagle beach.

The Jolly Pirates cruise is a must! Crew can not be more friendly and helpful if they tried. You get to snorkel at about 3 different stops and i can honestly say ive never seen so many fish before! And so many different types! Free drinks all day too which is a bonus!!

Also, if you get a chance go to De Palm Island for the day, you get about 4 hours to eat, drink, snorkel and swim in the sea. Again, never seen so many and such a variet of fish! I had about 10 huge blue parrot fish swimming around me - it was amazing!

Anyway ive gone on for long enough now but by now im sure you can tell that i had an absolutely fantastic time! And would not hesitate in recommending the Brickell Bay Beach Club and Aruba!

Cat :O)

P.S By the way we booked through first choice and got a great deal!
