We were looking for a nice little place to spend the second half of a trip to Bermuda after staying at a higher end resort (Pompano Beach Club).

We stayed in one of the 2 room suites and we loved it. If you are looking for non-stop pampering, then this may not suit you. However if you want a building with a bit of history and a very friendly staff, then this does the trick nicely. It is a nice easy walk down into the main part of St George, so restaurants, galleries and scooter rentals are only a few minutes away.

The suite was plenty big for the two of us, but there is some quirkiness to the layout of the bathroom. One nice part of staying there is that there are some great covered porches which are great for having an evening drink or sitting out and reading while you significant other gets ready.

While we were in St. George there were two cruise ships in port, so we were expecting crazy crowds around town, but we never had to wait for a table and the foot traffic wasn't too bad either, so that was one worry that turned out to not be an issue.

“Nice Place, BUT”

It's convenient to the town, about five blocks to Cafe Gio and the Carraige House, two good restaurants. Another three blocks or so to the ferry, ten minutes walk to the Golf Course and 15 minutes walk to the beach. The beds are great, and Rachel (???) is a princess. We quickly became friends with the resident dog and cat, and the three legged (!!!) grey cat from next door.

The "Continental Breakfast" was OK, but we had to get there early if we wanted any of the seven muffins served daily. There was wiring and a receptacle for a smoke detector in our room, but the smoke detector itself was missing. The tiny shower measured about 28" square, and the water temperature would suddenly change from warm to scalding while you were showering. The place is a little run down and could use some TLC. The dog is a good watchdog, meaning he barks loudly when anyone comes in during the night. The cat is scrawny, sheds profusely and needs to be fed and brushed.

$733.50 for three nights seemed like a lot.

“So NOT worth the money!”

I needed a room for one night in Bermuda and decided to stay at Aunt Nea's because it was the cheapest in St. George. Even though it was the cheapest it was still expensive for the room that was provided. The room I was given was outside the main house. The room had a bathroom but the spa bathtub was two steps away from the bed outside the bathroom! The room was clean but when I awoke there was a cockroach bigger than the length of my palm sitting right near my bed. And wherever I went it followed me! When I went into the bathroom it went to the bathroom. When I went to the bed it went under the bed. I called the front desk and no one was there to answer. I packed my bags and went to the lobby and the owner was just walking in. When I explained to her the situation in my room, her only response was "oh, that's a shame". huh? for $249 I would like a little more concern. Anyway, if you are going to pay that much for a room, go to a better hotel. If you check with the Travel Bureau in Bermuda they can suggest some great places to stay that are much much cheaper.

“A little gem in historic St. Georges”

Aunt Nea's Inn at Hillcrest

I have been to Bermuda over 20 times since 90 and love this gem. We are repeaters at The Reefs which is an excellent property with an excellent price tag. Our cousin was in St. Georges in the East End with his yacht so we decided to fly and meet him after his single handed journey. It was a last minute treat. Aunt Nea's was the obvious choice since St. Georges Club wanted over 500.00 USD a night. We paid a little over 200.00 a night with tax. Our taxi navigated the narrow historic streets arriving to be met by Rachael, the lovely Guyanese head of housekeeping. She brought our group (my Mom and child) to a comfortably sized room with two queen beds. It was equipped with armour holding a tv and stereo, dining set, two large beds which would later reveal crisp linens and a shower and bath. Upon closer inspection we found the carpet to be terribly soiled and many little areas showing this room needed some overall cleaning and upkeep. The AC worked very well but was a noisy window unit. A wonderful continental breakfast was included which featured cereals, breads, p. butter and jam, teas, coffee and the last day, fresh fruit. I had asked for a blender to make my protein shakes and was obliged the end of the second day. It was a welcome treat and a nice courtesy albeit it not available on arrival. The only complaint was a French family was in house during our stay and the portly Grammy took most of the muffins and bread each morning AFTER her family ate. She was seen on several occasions holding napkins full of breads for the day? One had to beat her to it before she hoarded it all. Rather funny. The house has a resident Corgi, Sky who is a lovey and a sweet cat. The grounds in front are lovely with rosmary hedges and blossoming flora. The back is a mess with a decrepid clothesline and old junk lying about. We slept well in our little room but didn't feel comfy walking about with the soiled carpet so we donned flip flops and were fine. The Inn has Wi Fi which worked sporadically. Andrea and Delaey, the young owners were kind enough to help me get it working. Delaey was a charming host who gave me a site inspection since I am a travel agent. I was so surprised to see the other rooms..AMAZING, clean and MUCH better than mine. I have NO hestitation recommending the rooms aside from ours. We loved Aunt Neas and will return

“Not Fancy but Charming”

Aunt Nea's Inn at Hillcrest

I can't disagree with anything I have read so far! The inn has its not-so-good points, including the old towels and slightly run-down condition, the dog hair on the stairs, etc. but overall, we still loved it! Yes, you hardly ever saw anyone and yes, the breakfast was not gourmet, but if you get one of the upstairs rooms in the main house, you will love your accomodations! You get a private sitting room, antiques and the balcony with the pretty view. It cost more, but it was worth it! We liked the dog and we thought the hostess was very nice. This inn is not for those seeking luxury, but it makes you feel that you are a part of a very historic town and not just a tourist. Finicky people, stay away!
