“Really Worth the Stay at the Reefs!”

We spent one week at The Reefs in May for our Honeymoon and we had a wonderful time! Bermuda is a very clean, polite, and beautiful Island. Our room was a junior suite overlooking the ocean, but frankly, all the rooms have an ocean view (even the ones overlooking the pool).
I can't say enough about The Reefs and it's employees. They go above and beyond for thier guests with their friendly nature and helpful knowledge.
The hotel itself is a very beautiful property. The private beach is spectacular and one can easily get spoiled by it! You could go and visit the other beaches in Bermuda (ie. Horseshoe, Warwick Longbay) that are just as lovely, but way more crowded. But at the Reefs you're set up with umbrellas and beach chairs and drink service!
During our stay only Coconuts was open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (as they are going under renovations), but the food there is good. Much better than I had anticipated. If you want to explore other restaurants for dinner I suggest The Fourways Inn (romantic) and the The Swizzle Inn.
Overall Bermuda was the perfect backdrop for our Honeymoon and The Reefs provided us with a wonderful atmosphere. We hope to return to The Reefs in the future!

I stayed at the Reefs during my most recent holiday in Bermuda and it's one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at.
The setting is fantastic, the rooms are beautiful and the service outstanding. The infinity pool overlooking the sea is just fabulous.
The Reefs combines an amazing property with very attentive service. I felt totally welcome.
I would recommend a stay at the Reefs to anyone who visits Bermuda. It's like paradise.

“Yes, We Will Return!”

My wife & I just returned from a glorious stay @ The Reefs and were not disapointed by anything. The renovations are moving right along with no sign of disruption to the guests. The recently completed lobby & lounge are absolutly beautiful. As for the ongoing construction, the new resturants & kitchen are moving toward a July completion date and if Ben Titt has anything to say about it, it will be done. If you wouldn't have been able the hear a construction vehicle backing up, you couldn't hear the construction. The crane is electric!

Due to the construction, only one resturant, Coconuts was being used. The quality of the food was up to The Reef's standards & of course the staff went above & beyond the call of duty to make our stay memorable. If I were to make one suggestion, I think there should be a few more specials offered @ dinner .While I had more than enough choices, our daughter who is not a meat eater had fewer choices on a few nights. The kitchen staff deserves " A JOB WELL DONE" from us. Our room was also very well appointed and exceptionally clean. The housekeeping satff is doing an exceptional job.

As we have told many friends, the views & the staff keep use coming back every year. It all starts when you arrive & doesn't end till you leave Bermuda. So everything else is a plus. When we travel it seems that we compare everyplace we stay to The Reefs. Right now we are planning our return in September, but are also planning to return next spring 2009.

“New Lease on Life”

The Reefs

May 6, 2008

My wife is a homemaker who was coached by friends who had recently visited The Reefs in late 2007, with rave reviews right down to the rooms recommended. Granted, we visited at the end of April, to May 1st and we were told that construction would interupt two of the formal dining areas due to construction of new units for fractional ownership. In spite of this caution, we redeemed our Aeroplan miles for the flights online and called The Reefs directly to enquire. My wife made all the arrangements with the front desk staff, and asked all the right questions about noise, interuption, and dining capacity due to the construction on site.

Let me tell you the booking process was seamless. We booked their finest suite overlooking the ocean. Having newly renovated every room and bath, freshly furnished, we can tell you this reno have given the Reefs a new lease on life. How can I describe this? Every square inch of exterior is bearing fresh high-quality paint, Right down to the walk ways. Classic soft Bermuda coral on the exterior walls, like the sand, with pristine white walkways, trim and roof tiles. Once inside, and we looked at other rooms to get an idea of junior suites, and poolside rooms, and all featured limestone floor tiles, soft pastel walls, traditional Bermuda vernacular of arches and sconces, then furnished with soft pasel greens, natural blond woods, and thoughtful lighting. Ceiling fans, and brand new digital A/C units. Balconies feature loungers, table and chairs and in our units, a private hot tub in a discrete corner location out of view of all but the longtail birds.

Our impression was: This is Paradise!

But it does not stop there. Bathrooms have been completely renovated with limstone tiles, huge walk in showers with massive shower head, and a hydrotherapy spa tub for two. Again we were taken with the lighting fixtures all on seperate switches so that moods can be set for day or night.

The property is self-containied with pool, hot tub, spa, dining areas and gathering rooms all tastefully refreshed.

The food is five diamond and the serving staff are awesome. While we visited, Coconuts was the only dining area available. This is no sacrifice as the fare that came out of this kitchen is a credit against any high end restaurant. As the staff get to know you, they remember your preferences and offer new suggestions for culinary adverture. For those brave parents who brought toddlers, the staff behaved like nannies, and grandfathers, engaging the youngster's every need.

To give you an idea of the lifetime loyalty of Reef visitors, we talked to a couple who visit twice a year and they had passed their 50th visit last fall. Imagine the connection they have made to this oasis.

The beach is spectacular. It is groomed every day by a "Sandboni", which is a cleaver northern parallel to our ice rink Zanbonis! Bravo beach staff creativity. Every day, lounges and umbrellas are arranged in perfectly straight rows, to set a colourful array of Bermuda colour on an otherwise perfectly pink beach.

Glass bottom and single kayaks offer a glimse of the reefs close up, and snorkel equipment is available. The ocean at this time of year is 72 degrees, so the saying goes, Bermudians do not swim until May 24th. As a northener, the temperature did not deter us from dashing into the crystal waters. Air temp rose to a comfortable 72 degres during the day.

All in, this was the finest four-night vacation we have ever taken. Bathered in luxury, warmth and new friendships, we struggled to return to Canada on the last day.

And, if you are wondering about the construction, we hardly noticed the workers or the site noises over the music of the ocean surf. The workers were highly respectful of their location, and not one cat call or whistle was ever heard as they worked on erecting the new high tech kitchen and dining area to be opened this August, 08. We met the Executive Shef, Laurent Ajas and shared his passion for a world class kitchen that will come online not a moment to soon to tantilize futures guests.

Would we go again? We learned a little secret while checking out. If you book your next visit, you can hold your suite of choice with a future deposit to be requested closer to you next visit. yes, we booked a longer stay, five nights in 2009. Can't wait.

Thanks Reefs for give us a new lease on life!

Sincerely,

Peter and Karen Watson

“Colors Were Indescribable”

We were greeted by name at the airport and whisked away. The hotel had arranged and included in our package transportation to and from the airport. The hotel also included bus and ferry passes for the length of our stay. These were very valuable as Taxis are expensive (gas is over $8.00 a gallon) After observing tourists handle mopeds on the wrong side of the road and reading about tourist fatalities on mopeds, I strongly recommend against traveling by this means on the Island of Bermuda.

Our room was excellent,(Oleander #345) the view and the privacy away from other rooms and venues, i.e. pools and restaurants was perfect.

There are many steps up and down throughout the hotel grounds to and from the beach, restaurants, lounges, pools, etc. and strenuous exercise for those not used to lots of ups and downs.

The food was excellent and they have meal plans that include or exclude both breakfast and dinner, we chose the breakfast option.
While the food was excellent we chose to eat around the island at different locations. One restaurant quite close and within walking distance was "Henry VIII" another in Hamilton was the "Pickled Onion" both offered a variety on their menus

There is construction going on on site but they were very aware of our comfort level and we were not deterred by it.

The weather was cool and fickle, wet and windy one moment and then bright and sunny the next. Highs were in the upper sixties and lows in the lower sixties.

When weather and temperature were cooperative kayaking and snorkeling are great bets.
