“Gutted its closing!”

I visited this hotel back in 2006 with my girlfirend, but had not heard of tripadvisor back then so never left a review.

We were determined to return there in 2009 as it was without doubt the best holiday experience we have ever had. For a romantic escape you cant beat the sandridge in my opinion, the staff there simply make the holiday even more speical than it allready feels.Great clean rooms, great location, great food and drinks and more than adequate facilities were one thing, but to be honest, the staff there were simply amazing.

A big special shout to Virgil, Ryan and Ricardo, three barmen who kept me stocked with coctails for two weeks solid; Peter the security guard, all the girls at reception and the waitresses, and all the other people there who helped keep the place running behind the scenes. Hopefully everyone is ok, there were rumours of the place closing when i was there, its just a big shame for all the staff there that they were true.

I am going to read some reviews now to try to see some clues if everyone who was working there when i visited there are still ok.

“Our revisit to the Sandridge.”

Just returned from the Sandridge we had a lovely time, we also went last September when it was great, , as usual food was of a high standard but unfortunatly due to no fault of the staff service was slow due to the management laying off staff, but as usual they worked very hard to keep the guests happy, rooms, getting a bit shabby and things breaking, when we arrived our wardrobe door fell off and shower did not work later in the week toilet broke, it's a shame the hotel is closing because it seems to attract nice friendly guests and the staff are wonderful.
Barbados is being spoilt by all the building work big ugly buildings and several hotels are closing, the best part about it is the reggae buses where you can travel the island at a very small cost.

“Wish we had found it earlier!”

Sandridge Beach Hotel

Having returned from 10 days at the Sandridge we felt we had to add our thoughts.
My husband, 15 year old daughter and I, have only one complaint. And that is the Sandridge is closing! It is such a shame because it may not be the "flashiest" hotel in Barbados but it certainly gives you the best "feel" of Barbados.
From the moment we arrived we were given the warmest welcome. The atmosphere was friendly and all the staff were so helpful. We were lucky with our room because we had one facing the gardens and the building works didn't bother us at all.
The food was excellent and such a choice (and so much of it)! Have to say the Cocktails were pretty good too!
Everyone staying at the Sandridge appeared to be having a fantastic time and the only thing that people were complaining about was the fact that the place was closing.
Of course Martin has to be mentioned. He should be put up for some Barbados Tourism Award. Very friendly, very knowledgable and of course he introduced us to the Turtles which is a memory we will always treasure.
A big thank you to all the staff that made our stay so great. We will certainly be returning to Barbados, our only problem being where. How can you top the Sandridge?

“I'm glad this wasm't our first stay in Barnados”

Sandridge Beach Hotel

I'm sorry but this was our 4th time to Barbados and in similar star hotels, we have been to the Sandy Bay Beach Club twice and loved it. But if this was a Virgin Extra hotel i don;t know where the extra was.

Yes we had a great time, we met some nice people and yes Martin is great. There was just something lacking - there wasn't entertainment in the evening when there was supposed to be, things broke and weren't replaced under we and others complained to the Virgin Rep. It just wasn't value for money and it was such shame.

We met people who had been go this hotel before and they agreed the service had got poorer.

I would not recommed this hotel to anyone who wanted to be up after 8pm. And we travelled with 3 children aged 3,5 and 7!

“Absolutly Amazing! More of a 5* then a 3*.”

Sandridge Beach Hotel

I have not long returned from the Sandridge Beach Hotel in Barbados, and i am so sad to be back!

From the moment i arrived at the hotel, you are made to feel so welcome. Straight away we where offered a cocktail either a fruite punch or a rum punch. (the rum is strong so go careful on those).

we where show to our room, which was a little disappointing, but then again if i wanted a fancy room i would have stayed in a 5* not a 3*. The rooms where cleaned everyday and the towels changed too! The View from our balcony was rubbish because we had building work, but like i said i did not expect an amazing view for a standard room. Their was hardly any noise from the builders anyway!

The food was out of this world, omg it was amazing for a 3* hotel. The food we where served at the Sandridge hotel was the sort of food you would expect to be served at a 5*. I stayed at the George Cenq Hotel in Paris which is a 5 star! and the food was Rubbish compared to here! You had a good choice from the buffet and in the evening you could have buffet or A La Carte! TRULY AMAZING!

The beachs in Barbados are fantastic, we enjoying swimming in the sea everyday. You had white sandy beachs and crystal clear water! If you are into snorkiling then this is great because although you cannot see the fish, once you are under and snorking its great! The beaches are not private in barbados so you will get people trying to sell you stuff, but they are not actually allowed on hotel property, but if you are nice to them and say no, they tend not to hassle you anymore! There are plenty of water sports and stuff to do. The weather was great 34'c most days!

Martin, what a great guy he makes this hotel what it is, he organises all the trip and events and is always happy. When we where there we saw some wild monkeys which was rare because of the building work going on! He was first standing there handing me a banana to give to them. He likes to get you involved. He is wicked, brilliant, fanstaic and amazing!

I would reccomend this hotel to everyone! I am so sad that it is being knocked down in Jan 2009, its a wonderful hotel with great members of staff, i have nothing bad to say about it at all!
