“Great Family holiday”

Cobblers Cove

We stayed at Cobblers Cove for 8 nights during the Easter school holidays with our 2 children age 7 and 9. We also met up with friends from the US who have children the same age so although I had been a little worried that is might not be very child friendly I knew that there would be at least one other family there.

When we arrived we found the hotel just perfect and all the staff very warm and welcoming. In total there were about 5 or 6 families there which was lovely as the children could play with each other. As a parent I don't necessarily want to go to an all in family resort, all our children need to entertain themselves is a swimming pool, sea and beach (the pontoon which they could swim out to, turtles that they could go and see, canoes and water skiing were all bonuses). All in all I felt we couldn't have chosen a nicer hotel.

I liked the fact that it felt quiet and we were not surrounded by large hotels and night clubs. Walking into Speightstown along the beach was pleasant and the town itself did not feel like a place just created for tourists. The public areas of the hotel (particularly the sitting room with chess board) did feel like an English Country hotel but I like the ambience that creates.

At times we did worry whether the children were monopolising the swimming pool but we never got the sense that they were annoying the adults without children. I certainly wasn't aware of any unfriendly glares which all parents have had at some time. There was an unsupervised arts and craft room which was like Aladdins Cave as there quite a few craft kits, paints etc - so on hotter days the children could retreat there at midday for an hour or so.

I thoroughly recommned Cobblers Cove- I did do my research and checked directly with the hotel about taking children and they pointed out that there is a child free policy until March and that during school holidays they welcome children and listed the activities available for them. If we go back to Barbados then I would stay there again.

“Superb, tranquil and excellent service”

Having probably read every single 4 and 5 star hotel review for Barbados I settled on Cobblers Cove, and have to say that it met every expectation. I arranged for a taxi to collect us direct from the airport, and whilst this may cost a fraction more than a locally negotiated taxi, being met on time and transported in comfort started our holiday on a high note. The torrential rain and thunderstorm that accompanied us during the 30+ minute drive was quickly forgotten on our arrival at the hotel.

The reception staff were just excellent. Check-in was rapidly completed and we could then enjoy our welcoming rum punches whilst being given a guided tour of the hotel.

We had booked an Ocean view suite and were allocated Room number 1. The accomodation is tastefully decorated with plenty of room (a bedroom; a 'walk-through' wardrobe; a bathroom; a lounge with small kitchen area; a patio and small lawned area). From our perspective the room position was perfect as it allowed my wife and I to lounge on our sun beds on our patio and then simply walk ten paces to be on the beach.

The beach is relatively narrow, but then most of the West coast is similar. The important thing is that the beach is clean and the swimming wonderful.

We booked bed, breakfast and dinner because, having been to Barbados before, we were looking forward to doing a lot of lazing around and little sightseeing. The open, sea facing restaurant is tremendous. Service, as with everywhere else in the hotel, is friendly and very efficient - they make you feel very welcome. The menu is good and the quality of food and its presentation is very pleasing. The wine list is full, with prices that appeared very reasonable.

What really makes the hotel stand out is all the little things. Each day a member of staff will offer sunbathing guests a small sorbet, and when we checked out the recptionist telephoned the hotel manager who took the trouble to come and say goodbye to us.

Barbados is as wonderful as ever. The Cobblers Cove Hotel is a delightful, tranquil and civilised oasis that is managed and run by a caring, thoughtful team.

“Traditional old Carribean”

Cobblers Cove

I have just arrived home from a week in the carribean, which included three nights in Cobblers cove. I am confused at the comments on the previous post, It may just be that they have not looked at where they were going to be staying or have been mis-sold by their travel agent.

I found all the staff attentful, friendly and polite. Other guests staying there (alot who go time and again) were also very friendly.

I found the whole time there extremely relaxing, the room spacious, clean and although not the most modern ive been in very good quality in its finish and upkeep. If your looking for the most modern facilities and upto date amenities in a room then your probably looking in the wrong place, try Dubai or another up and coming area in the middle east where everything is brand new.
If your looking for a relaxing stay surrounded by friendly guests and attentive staff in a large clean suite and eat each night in a romantic beachside restaraunt serving fresh well cooked food then don't hesitate.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for a traditional old style carribean hotel the likes of which are becoming more and more rare.

Excellet stay.

The hotel is very old and run down. Needs a major update. Poorly managed. Does not have a very good food. We have not seen so many unhappy and unfriendly people working under one roof. Very dissapointing first visit to Barbados!

“Fabulous Cobblers Cove”

Cobblers Cove is a lovely small hotel situated on the West coast of Barbados.
The hotel consists of 40 suites which are nestled in beautiful gardens. Each room has either a balcony or garden terrace ( I would recommend the garden terrace room at the time of booking!).
There is a small pool with a decked sun bathing area which leads to a lovely beach with good swimming.
The hotel provides free watersport activities where booking is advisable at the time of arrival.
In my opinion the best feature of the hotel is the 'Terrace Restaurant'. The quality and presentation of food is outstanding and the staff are very friendly. Guests staying half board have also the option to dine at other fabulous hotels during their stay. This is a great arrangement as it provides a variety of dining venues during your holiday.
I would definatley return to Cobblers Cove.
