The location of the Rostrevor is fantastic with a million dollar view from every room but I won't be back.

I have stayed at the Rostrevor many times and am a frequent visitor to Barbados. Being a frequent visitor to Barbados i have made friends with people on the island. This hotel has one set of rules for whites and one set of rules for blacks. Friends are not allowed to have a drink with you on your patio unless they happen to be white. Talk about discrimation!

My friend had her camera stolen from her poolside deck and when she talked to the front desk they couldn't have cared less.
We know it was the security guard on duty that night that took it as he was always hanging around our decks.

I also forgot my $100 flat iron in the courtesy room upon departure and when I followed up with the hotel they didn't even have the courtesy to return my e-mail. They were always quick with returning my e-mails when making travel arrangements.

I just booked my spring vacation to Barbados and guess what...i didn't book the Rostrevor.

They will never get another penny from either myself or any of my friends and the more people I can tell the better.

My husband and I have just returned from staying at the Rostrevor for 2 weeks. Had a wonderful stay. The staff that cleaned our rooms and looked after us were wonderful, always on hand with fresh towels and linen. The only one tiny let down was the room safe. This decided after one week to pack in and it took 3 days for the hotel to get it working again, only to pack in again on our last day.

We would highly recommended a stay here for ANY age group. The apartments are very clean and comfortable. We stayed in the new block, in a superior ocean front studio with air con., although we didn't need to use it at all.

If you are thinking of booking, then do so direct with the apartments, its very easy and they are very professional.

I stayed at the Rostrevor in October when a friend and I decided to go on a last minute trip to the Caribbean. First of all I have to say that the price was right. About $105USD a night for a Superior Oceanview room with A/C, two beds, kitchen, large bathroom and beautiful and spacious balcony with an absolutely STUNNING view. I mean you could pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars more at other resorts and NEVER get the view that the Rostrevor is going to offer.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. My only complaint about the room would be the small beds. I was travelling with a friend and we got a room with two single beds...they were very small but we were usually so beat at the end of the day we had no problem getting to sleep.

Oh and as far as the noise from the nearby clubs that other guests have mentioned. I was there 5 nights October 21-26 and didn't hear a THING.

The only thing I did not like about this property was that the beach is miniscule...almost non existant. It wasn't a big deal, we mostly sat in lounge chairs up on the terrace by the pool. You could walk out quite far into the water and it would still not be much above your waist though. I just like to have a nice long beach to walk along. But there are other beaches not too far away.

The Rostrevor is not luxurious by any means. It's clean, it's comfortable and the view from the rooms is amazing. I would not hestitate to return if I were headed back to Barbados.

This was my second time on the island but the first time i have stayed at the rostrevor, and i loved it!!
I stayed in the old section on the first floor and after reading all the reveiws about it being stuffy and dated i was a bit concerned, but i was pleasently suprised.
Yes, the kitchen was dated but the rest was good, and the breeze at night was wonderful flowing through the bedroom, you didn't need air conditioning at all.
My son was ill whilst we were there and i found the staff all really helpful and concerned.
The barbadians are very slow and relaxed and food does take a while to come out so be very patient!!
Don't listen to all the bad reveiws, you get what you pay for, i loved and would certainly return.

“Right on the Beach”

Rostrevor

This is the second time we have stayed at the Rostrevor on the St. Lawrence Gap. All the rooms face the ocean. There is a private beach for guests of the hotel as well as an outdoor pool which is very warm. There is a small bar off the pool however it is only open until about 6pm. Happy hour is from 1:30-2:30. They do not always have the ingredients for special drinks nor do they know how to mix many drinks. Best to drink Banks Beer. They also serve breakfast and lunch however the food is not the greatest. It also takes them a long time to make anything. Toast can take 1/2 hour. Being an apartment hotel you are better off making your own breakfast and eating on your patio. There are several restaurants along the Gap and at night many food vendors which serve excellent food. There are 3 buildings on the premises and we have stayed both times in the "NEW" section. It isn't really that new but it has both a fan and air conditioner, whereas the others only have fans. It is worth the extra few dollars. There are safes in every room however we have not had one that works yet. The room are a good size and nicely furnished. The rooms include a kitchen however you have to provide your own dish soap and dish cloths. The rooms are kept pretty clean with maid service provided each day usually in the afternoons. Clean towels are provided as needed and there is ALWAYS HOT water for showering. Even though it is on the Gap across from the night clubs if you keep the bathroom window or door closed you can't hear the music. Most of the staff are friendly especially Natalie at the front desk. She always has a smile and is very helpful. The staff take forever for any service so make sure you have lots of time when booking trips, getting towels or doing any business from the front desk. It is wonderful to wake up to a view of the ocean and waves hitting the shore every morning. To be right on the beach and in a great location this is the best hotel for the money. We will return again in two years.
