The Black Durgon is a good place to stay. If you're looking for a swanky place, this isn't the place. However, if you're looking for friendly staff, clean (but basic) rooms, convenient diving, and as laid back an atmosphere as you'd want, this is the place. The rooms are very basic, but very convenient to the diving. They are kept spotlessly clean after every breakfast.
The outdoor breakfast area is great, and they serve a great breakfast, right on the water. The onsite gear storage is convenient, and the instructor, Rick, can guide night dives at Town Pier (a MUST!!!!), and give you great diving info on other sights.
This is not a top-of-the line "resort", but fits in great with the laid-back style of the island. I'll go back, for sure. Al will take good care of you, too, and spin a few diving stories.
Bonaire is known for its shore diving, and one of the best sites is right off the end of the pier. Six of our thirteen dives were done here. How convenient is that???
If you like "swanky" diving, don't stay here. However, if you want to get to know a good group of fellow divers, and a great proprietor, in a laid back setting, I'd recommend you stay here.
