Our story began on Sept 26 (three days before our honeymoon was to begin) when Windjammer cancelled the cruise that we planned months ago. We were going to be on the ship for the first week and then in Aruba for the second week. Once we were informed of the cancellation, I had to scramble to find something else fun to do. We decided to attempt a side trip to Bonaire, and luckilly I found us flights (Tiara Air was great). The day before we left I called Deep Blue View B&B based on reviews I read on TripAdvisor. DBV was booked (until spring 08 I later learned) and they suggested I contact Villa Safir, which was a new operation near theirs. I emailed Villa Safir but had to leave for the airport prior to getting a response. In the email I asked the owners to call our resort in Aruba if they had any room. Much to our delight, there was a message waiting for us in Aruba. I called owner Peter and we finalized all the details. We arrived at Villa Safir on Oct 1 and Peter met us at the airport. We hit it off right away and we were immediately endeared to his fun personality. After we picked up the truck (which Peter had kindly arranged), we drove up to the house. Having never been there we had no idea what to expect. When we first walked through the front door we were in awe over the beauty. The foyer leads to the back patio which has a breathtaking view of the west side of the island and ocean (we watched the sunset every night from the patio next to the pool). Soon after, we met co-owner Bianca who was equally as kind and fun as Peter. Our room was fantastic and the breakfast each day was great. The beauty of the place was only surpassed by the hospitality of our hosts. We had a great time on Bonaire and diving, but our fondest memories were of hanging out with Peter and Bianca next to the pool drinking beer. I could go on all day about all sorts of details, but hopefully you get the picture. Feel free to email me if you have specific questions, but you are not going to regret it if you stay here. As the word continues to get out, more and more folks will book it and repeat customers will start to come back. I would imagine that by 2008, their occupancy rates will match those of DBV. If you like to meet great people who truly care about you, and stay in a place where you feel like you are home, you should stay at Villa Safir. P.S.-The third host Tara was one of the coolest dogs we have ever seen. We will be back to Villa Safir!
