My wife and I love to scuba dive. This island by far has wonderful dive sites. If you have a dive buddy, rent a truck and shore dive it is great. We went by reviews and stayed at the Blue View, a B+B. The view from this place is beautiful. The resort is beautiful. But, my wife and I may have been staying here at the wrong time. We do not speak their language, but they speak english. I will apologize for not knowing theirs. They did have guests also at this time who spoke the native language and english. We were left out of most all conversations. I think this is so rude. We will not return here, but will return to Bonaire to dive.

Arrival-
Menno greeted us at the airport and escorted us to pick-up our rental truck. We then followed him back to the hotel. We were greeted by Esther, Bully and Usco. Bully is such a ham and he and I made fast friends.
Breakfast-
Esther is a wonderful cook and we enjoyed made-to order pancakes and eggs.
Rooms-
The rooms are very clean and daily house keeping is done promptly and while you are out. The only minor complaint I have is that the rooms are a bit small and if you intend to spend anytime there I’d consider an upgrade to the larger room.
B&B-
The grounds and common areas are well kept and clean. Hammocks by the pool are nice and relaxing. The neighborhood is quiet. The dive storage area is superb, providing a nice storage locker and rinse stations. Fresh tanks were always on hand. We found the Internet service to be fairly horrible, connection was poor and speed nonexistent. Not a big deal to some but to us it was. Nice selection of books available. We also enjoyed the sunset cruise, excellent BBQ and rum punch! Esther and Menno are great hosts and are more then willing to do their best to make your stay a wonderful experience.
Cheers!

For our return to Bonaire, we decided to stay at the Deep Blue View based on the wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor. Ester and Menno exceeded our already high expectations with their hospitality, facility and attention to detail. The trip was everything we hoped for and more.

Like many, we came to Bonaire for the diving, and DBV made it easy and convenient to enjoy the many underwater wonders of the island. Our package included truck rental and Menno keeps an ample supply of cylinders available so we could partake in the excellent shore diving at our leisure. Menno made our boat dives interesting, taking us to the best spots and providing 'diver fuel' muffins between dives. If you visit, ask him to take you to Jerry's Reef to see the turtles and the beautiful sponges. He's also quite good at spotting sea horses, and even the ever elusive sea rabbit (I won't give away the secret, you'll have to visit DBV to find out!). Paul Humann books are available on the bookshelf to identify all the amazing sea life that you see.

We decided to get our PADI Advanced and Enriched Air certs during our 10 day visit as well. Menno and Ester are excellent instructors, reviewing the information with us and adding thier own practical tips and advice. The night dive was a bit scary for me, Ester picked just the perfect dive site and suggested we go in at sunset to make it less daunting. It's this type of personal attention that made our trip an outstanding one.

The facility is beautiful and well maintained, Ester's breakfast is fantastic, Menno's boat is comfortable, and the dogs are a great comfort if you had to leave your best friend at home. The intimate atmosphere keeps people coming back (the majority of guests are repeaters) and there a lots of opportunities to swap dive stories and find out where the dolphins were last glimpsed over breakfast or the Captian's BBQ (very yummy!).

As we pack up to make the long journey back to San Jose, it feels more like we have been staying with friends than at a hotel, there are so many little touches and details that make DBV in the best vacation home we've ever known.

Book early, stay as long as you can, and by all means, enjoy!

Once again, we had an excellent stay with Esther and Menno. This was our second stay, and judging by the repeat visitors (one couple was on stay number 5), our experiences are consistently above average.

This is relaxed, dive B&B run by an wonderful, friendly, efficient couple. The accomodations are very comfortable, and their dive support is excellent. Deep Blue View is a perfect choice for adults (no children under 12 allowed) looking for a quiet retreat and some serious diving.

“Best Way to Stay in Bonaire”

Deep Blue View Intimate Resort & Villa Safir

We just returned from a 2 week stay at The Deep Blue View B&B and it was hard to leave. The owners are great and make you feel right at home. The B&B has a laid back atmosphere and the rooms, common areas, and diving facilities are more than we could have asked for. They offer tailor-made dive packages and are very flexible if you would like to add some diving or snorkeling trips. They were also great to help us arrange other activities - kayaking, restaurant suggestions, picnic or bbq's. I thought it was great that they, if you want, even offered advice on where to go for our self-led shore dives based upon the current weather and water conditions. They genuinely just want you to have a great experience in Bonaire.

The island has named itself a diver's paradise and I completely agree. That said, diving (and snorkeling) are THE main thing to do here. This does not really relate to DBV except in relation to it's location.

The B&B is just a 10 minute drive from the city center and basically in the mid-point of all the diving on the island. I cannot recommend enough getting a dive package that includes a car rental...especially a small truck. There is just no other way to get around the island and to most dive sites.

We thought the location was great because it is in a residential area that is still close to all of the restaurants, but without the noise. There were about 12 people at the most at the DBV at a time so it is easy to get help with equipment or diving sites and it is also a good opportunity to get to know other divers. There is a shared refridgerator for guests so we would just make our own lunches in between dives and, in the evenings, sit by the pool and have a few drinks.

On top of that they know what they are doing when it comes to diving. They offered great rental equipment. They are both great guides and experienced divers, but also laid back and fun. They are also great about respecting the reefs and the wildlife as well as doing their part on having an eco friendly B&B.
