stay away from this resort;
dirty, musty, windows and patio doors don't open.
received bed bug bites, first night there.
found 3" cockroach in our room the next morning.
beds stink to musty smell.
food is very repeatitive.
walk to beach is trying to go thru muddy path of another resort.
noisy shopping mall beside rooms.
owners are nor repairing or bettering the resort because they are talking about new owners(if they sell) tearing it down because beyond repair.
entertainment people are terrible..
do not go there if you want a good holiday, pay a little more, well worth it to move waway.
afetr three days, we got out and went to another resort, best time ever, everything much better at the resort next door..

My first tme to the Dominican and propably my last. The Dorado Club made sure of that. Before I booked I checked out all the pic's and reviews on hotel there were some good and some bad but i thought it didnt look to bad being a 3* but hey those pic's and reviews tell lies . In all the years I have been going abroad I have never had to complan about a hotel and ask to change hotels, but this place, I have never stayed in anything like it. The 1st room they offered us looked like something from the black hole of calutta.It was dark, damp, old, plaster hanging of the walls
the bathroom had things growng in it ,it stank of sewage. the 2nd room was not alot better. The pool area and pool bar was dirty with broken sun beds and dirty tables and chairs, there were broken roofs with tiles missing or hanging off . We had 1 coke while we waited for our room to be checked this tasted like panda coke. We did go to try the food as we had to spend the first night there, what a suprise this was alwfull to some of it was unreconisable so I just could'nt face eating anything. There was just no way we could spend a week staying there we would of defiently ended up catching something. The rep told us it was closing down in april 08 for refit in my opinion it should never of been opened. We were moved the next morning to the Fun Tropical Hotel compex which was also a 3* this was like a palace in comparison.

We arrive on December 22nd. Reception people were very nice.

We had a big room with mezzanine. Very very clean.
This is a small hotel with no big lobby and without pianist.
I am use to a 4 or 5stars hotel but I can say that this hotel is a very good 3 stars. The beach is app. 4 minutes of walk, the bartender at the beach are very nice. Domingo at the pool bar is going out of his way to serve you and always in good mood.

The buffet is small but o.k., you can always find something to eat. II did not go the the restaurant A La Carte.

Overall experience : Very good, very clean, very nice people.

Of course the hotel needs a little bit of fresh paint but it's always clean,.

old seen its day but if you are tight on money ok. Food is very repeative , booze is no-name . Not on beach walk about two blocks. noisey especially by entertainment hall. Across street from small Dorado mall and some added off prem night life.
For the price a cheap stay . Help are very friendly. No direct flights from NY area any more so you loose a lot of time , fly to Santiago instead or forget Puerta Plata altogether and go to Punta Cana or Huey
