We have just returned from 3 weeks all inclusive at Dorado Resort. We were really attracted by the price at about £18 per day. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel of which I did not expect much. The room was big with bedroom, bathroom with hot shower & balcony. OK it was not 5* (the sink was painted white) but was suitable for us. Some people complained of rooms that smelt or were small but they were moved when they complained. All the staff were good and friendly. There was entertainment each night and during the day but it was a bit basic. Sunbeds, canoes & windsurfers were all free on the beach, which was 100 yards away. Food was sometimes not so good and it is not a vegetarian friendly hotel however we managed and we did have some great meals especially at the beach restaurant. All in all, brilliant for the price. One word of caution though, Playa Dorado is not the real Dominican Republic just an enclave for European and North American holidymakers. Locals are in the main kept away.
