“What a great Time !!!!”

Puerto Plata Village Resort and Spa

4 of 5 stars
Allanburg, Ontario
Mar 11, 2008

What a time !!! We have just returned home from a wonderful vacation. The ride from the airport is about 20 minutes, it stops at hotels along the way. Once you arrive, you are greeted by staff and the night bartender serves you with a refreshing juice. You then check in at the desk and get your bracelets. You can get a ock for your room safe for 20.00 u.s.. They take you to your room on a little cart and they even carried our bags to the room. The rooms were very nice and clean. Beautiful balcony with two doors to swing open. Hair dryer is provided and shampoo and soap. they are nice to use. You can brush your teeth with tap water if you like, we did no problem. The food was okay, different then home of course but we managed. Pool and bar areas very nice, at times pool could have floating buds fromt he trees but nothing to complain about. The staff were great, very friendly, always smiling. The animation team were so funny, really enjoyed them. Popeye, Efrain,Kojack, and yes Romy.....he was fantastic. He made our trip the best. We would go back just cause of him......You can make your own fun, or join in theirs and you will have a great time...My family did. Thanks again, Romy I will never forget you.....Janet G. “Great Fun!!”

Puerto Plata Village Resort and Spa

Mar 6, 2008

We arrived at PPV on february 26th 2008. We'd had some issues earlier in the day (agency bus took us to the wrong hotel 45 mins away...and from the outside it looked like a much nicer hotel) so we were rather disapointed to be stuck at this place.

BUT my friend and I didn't want to waste our week moping around, so after a quick nap we got right into it! And it turned out to be the most amazing week!!

The animation team was awesome, particularly Kojack, Efrain, Willys, and Popeye! They're hilarious and so energetic, and very fun to hang out with! Every day they had different activities going on around the pool area. Darts, mini golf, horshoes, "crazy pool" games, water polo, volleyball in the pool, and other such games. If you didn't participate in them then it may have seemed rather repetitive to watch, but playing them was really fun!

Also everyday they taught a dance, we learned salsa, la colita, merengue, and boracha or bochata whatever it's called haha! And then the famous "Chocolate" dance that we did after every dance we learned. They held spanish lessons everyday.

Also available were bikes, so you could bike around the area.

Every evening around 8 or 8:30 the animation team did a presentation with the kids, whether it was making random animal sounds, or singing songs with them, it was really fun to watch them act like kids with the kids. After the kids presentation, around 9:30pm they had other shows. The first one we saw actually took place in our discoteca, as it was Independance Day in the DR so they had a bunch of really cool dances performed. They had a kareoke night, a night where they had a performance about the history and people of the DR and it was with music and dancing as well. Another night was "Mister Puerto Plata Village 2008" where 4 guests "competed" by doing silly dances and tasks to be voted for to win. It was really funny! Every evening it was something different.
And of course, after the shows everyone could participate in "Chocolate".

On the beach, they had one member from the animation team working as well, they'd play beach volleyball and basketball with us or organize other beach games like bacci. They also offered the scuba gear that we could use for one hour each day on the beach. There were other items we could sign out as well, though my friend and I were busy the entire time with so much stuff to do that we never got a chance to use everything!

The buffet changed it's theme everynight, although some things were repetitive all in all it was really good. We coud make reservations at any of the 3 a la carte restaurants as much as we wanted, however we only ate at each one once. The mexican was the best, followed by italian and then oriental. The service was good, always filling our water up and making sure our meal is fine, and very fast switching courses when we were done eating the first course etc.

The bar in the pool was open everyday.

“Great week!!”

Puerto Plata Village Resort and Spa

Mar 2, 2008

We arrived at the hotel very late at about 1:30am on a Friday night due t a delayed flight. The hotel staff was very friendly and tried to get everyone into their rooms as fast as possible. The rooms were average and nothing special, but very clean. The maid was wonderful and went out of her way for us when we needed things in our room. The buffet was great and had a wide variety to choose from everyday. Out of the 3 al la carte restaurants only the mexican was any good. The entertainment was very low budget and repetetive but the animation team worked hard and tried to keep us entertained. After walking to the other resorts I noticed that ours was probably the cheapest one in Playa Dorada. All in all for the 615$ for the week we paid we got a great deal. I would definetly go back to this resort for that price again.

arrived at PPV on june 12 for 14 nights, first impressions ,very lovely place ,very clean and tidy ,nice rooms ,friendly staff, the food was repetative but ok,but for some reason the village was empty only a handfull of guests, so nothing much in the way of entertainment Werlin the dj did his best playing music round the pool and trying to organise kariroki that usually didnt work out, untill the weekend when much to our horror, the hotel was open to the locals ,who on the whole was very noisy and seemed to think they had priority over everyone else, that also was when the chinese, mexican restraunt were open for the other guests because the food they servrd to the locals was far better .
also the pool bar was closed except at weekends.on the whole we enjoyed our stay but wouldnt return to this hotel, one last thing if you are going take plenty of mossi repelant they are really bad there.

“Puerto Plata village”

We arrived back yesterday April 5, from PPV and I wanted to write this review while it was fresh in my mind.

When we arrived we were given 2 extremely dirty poor rooms on the bottom level of a hotel. We took a couple of minutes and went to the Manager to get our rooms changed luckily our tour rep arrived just as we did and after 1/2 an hour or so we we given new rooms. These rooms were on second floor with fridges and haridryers. Rooms were significantly better (but not great) but after a few days the AC did not work and the light in our bathroom kept breaking, the fixed the lights but never the AC. Overall room was very, very basic but very outdated.

We quickly made friends with the bartenders and the animation team these people were great, work 12 hours a day and always very friendly and energetic. Although the shows were a little lame, we always participated and had great fun. Disco was ok for the few nights we were able to stay up past 11:00.

The beach was great PPV stretches a long ways, always chairs available. The water was dirty the first few days but after the wind changed the water was great, never kept us from staying out of it.

There is a shopping complex a few minutes away and a flea market down the beach 5 minutes.

No shortage of towels, internet available for less than $1.00 for 15 minutes, a la carte restaurants were fabulous, highly recommend them.

OK resort if don't expect much, been to better but had fun.
