We arrived at PPV on february 26th 2008. We'd had some issues earlier in the day (agency bus took us to the wrong hotel 45 mins away...and from the outside it looked like a much nicer hotel) so we were rather disapointed to be stuck at this place.
BUT my friend and I didn't want to waste our week moping around, so after a quick nap we got right into it! And it turned out to be the most amazing week!!
The animation team was awesome, particularly Kojack, Efrain, Willys, and Popeye! They're hilarious and so energetic, and very fun to hang out with! Every day they had different activities going on around the pool area. Darts, mini golf, horshoes, "crazy pool" games, water polo, volleyball in the pool, and other such games. If you didn't participate in them then it may have seemed rather repetitive to watch, but playing them was really fun!
Also everyday they taught a dance, we learned salsa, la colita, merengue, and boracha or bochata whatever it's called haha! And then the famous "Chocolate" dance that we did after every dance we learned. They held spanish lessons everyday.
Also available were bikes, so you could bike around the area.
Every evening around 8 or 8:30 the animation team did a presentation with the kids, whether it was making random animal sounds, or singing songs with them, it was really fun to watch them act like kids with the kids. After the kids presentation, around 9:30pm they had other shows. The first one we saw actually took place in our discoteca, as it was Independance Day in the DR so they had a bunch of really cool dances performed. They had a kareoke night, a night where they had a performance about the history and people of the DR and it was with music and dancing as well. Another night was "Mister Puerto Plata Village 2008" where 4 guests "competed" by doing silly dances and tasks to be voted for to win. It was really funny! Every evening it was something different.
And of course, after the shows everyone could participate in "Chocolate".
On the beach, they had one member from the animation team working as well, they'd play beach volleyball and basketball with us or organize other beach games like bacci. They also offered the scuba gear that we could use for one hour each day on the beach. There were other items we could sign out as well, though my friend and I were busy the entire time with so much stuff to do that we never got a chance to use everything!
The buffet changed it's theme everynight, although some things were repetitive all in all it was really good. We coud make reservations at any of the 3 a la carte restaurants as much as we wanted, however we only ate at each one once. The mexican was the best, followed by italian and then oriental. The service was good, always filling our water up and making sure our meal is fine, and very fast switching courses when we were done eating the first course etc.
The bar in the pool was open everyday.
