We stayed her for two weeks in the middle of may, we were told this was a fantastic hotel with amazing rooms and advised we would have a fantastic time, the person that told us this had clearly never visited this hotel. I have decided to list the good and bad points.

BAD POINTS
1. Small Room (promised big room)

2. Sofa bed was not made when we arrived for my child, after two requests this was finally made up at around 10.30 (night one) I would have made it myself but there was no spare bedding in the room !!!

3.Air con broke

4.Toilet flush broke
5.Door lock broke (on leaving the room the door would not lock)
All the above were reported and fixed, but without any urgency.

6.Complete lack of sunbeds due to people being allowed to go out as early as 5.45 to reserve groups of sunbeds with there free towels, daily out of the app. 90 sunbeds only 20ish people were using them the rest were covered in towels often left for hours sometimes all day. This was the case at both pools. And made worse by large groups of people, some people even reserved beds at both pools!!!!! People wisihing to use the pool area who had not got up rediulously early had to sit on plastic patio furniture and admire the many sunbathing towels!

7.Not enough tables in the restraunt area at tea time (peak time)

8.Lack of bar staff

9.This was supposed to be 24hr AI however we could not get food between 5 and 6.30 the snacks served in the middle of the day were two silver pots (very small) that were emptied very quickly by the numerous unsupervised children hanging around the pool tables. The adult bar was supposedly 24hr but was rarely staffed during the daytime hours. We wanted pop for our son before 10 and could never get any. AI 24hr is very very limited.

10.Dont even try to play pool, we were surrounded by children sometimes as many as 15 completely unsupervised and were never told to move away from the area even when they had been reported to staff for repeatedly kicking the pool tables to get free games.

11.Lack of places to sit during the evening. This would not have been such a big problem if certain groups of guests did not push 3 sometimes 4 tables together for there group to sit at, the group that could have quite easily got around 2 tables and again of the 4 tables they were reserving half generally appeared to be empty forcing other guests to go back to there room and not bother with the entertainments. This would not have been such a problem if people were actually sitting at the tables and not sending 2 -4 people to babysit the empty chairs!!!! Some groups had several tables and chairs and actually sat at them this was not a problem it was the empty chairs and tables held by groups that sometimes were not used for the whole evening (very rude and selfish!!!!!).

12.The room was very shoddily finished and had several damp patches around. The furniture was awful the fridge cupboard door jammed every time it was closed even the cleaner struggled to open it and the drawers were pretty much the same.

13. The room was poorly lit therefore each visit to the safe was very difficult, take a torch for using in the safe.

14.Reps were so strecthed due to the number of complaints flooding in they appeared to have no interest in new complaints.

GOOD POINTS
1.Horse and carriage taxis to the plaza were fab (nothing to do with hotel)

2.The beach was fantastic.

3.In2action staff were fanastic, they all always had a smiles on there faces and were always very friendly.

4.The kids club had a great variety of childrens activities throughout the day and evening.

5.Mexican was fantastic book earl !!! the satff in here were great.

6.Good variety of food, all cooked well and seemed pretty fresh.

7. Room was cleaned daily with the fridge being stocked daily with pop water and beer.

8.The 11am check in on the last day took so much stress away as we did not have to lug our cases round with us for the day, or que to get boarding passes once at the airport. I hope this idea passes through to other hotels.

9.Hotel supplied towels this was great reduced my washing.

10.Security staff were very friendly.

11.Turtle pool was nice

All in all we had a good time despite the bad points, the beach was fantastic.

Just a bit of advice if you are going here with children who like to snack or want sweeties take these with you as a kinder egg cost around £2 from the shop, and a small bag of pick n mix cost us £3.

Just got back from a one week vacation at Holiday Village Golden. We had a good time. We stayed at the Royal Suites which was nice and definitely worth the upgrade. I really don't think I would have liked it if I had stayed in the regular part of the resort, too may kids. The one thing I was so disappointed with was the food at the buffet. It was horrible! I have stayed at this resort twice before when it was a Jack Tar Village and the food was great. But, it was really bad this time. The specialty restaurants are good. Especially the Japanese One. Overall it was good. Ino at the pool bar is great, and Wilson at the Aquanox Lounge was great too! Most of the staff is very friendly. Met some nice people. What time is it Allison? Stupid o'clock?

“great holiday and wedding”

Holiday Village Golden Beach

we stayed here from the 12 to the 26 may we all had a fantastic time. There was 11 of us as we got married out there. We were a bit worried from the earlyer reviews but soon found out we had nothing to worry about the place is great . The rooms are a bit dark but if you put all the lights on its ok . I would say this is a 3star pushing a 4 star. Its clean and tidy never seen any litter. The maids cleaned changed towels bedding and restocked the fridge every day. The buffet was realy good lots of choice and always fresh.None of us got sick. The italians was good had our wedding reception there staff could not do enough for us. The wedding was fantastic sophie the wedding coordanator done a real good job The flowers were beautiful the hole day was just amazing The only thing that upset us was the guy in the photo shop were you get your wedding photos from You get 14 free with you wedding package if you want more you have to buy a package the cheapest is $390. We bought this package and asked for the rest to be put on to disc. He changed his price 3 times adding more on each time he is so greedy dick terrpin without the mask. He is english and charges exreme amounts to put your photos on to disc We spoke to the reps about his prices and they made him drop his price by almost $500. The place is lovely beach is fantastic people are realy friendly staff could not do enough they work so hard for very little pay. At times i felt ashamed to be english as some of the other english staying there were very rude and ignorant towards the staff swearing ond shouting at them. A little politness and respect would not hurt. We did some trips ocean world swim with the dolphins they are so cheeky had a fantastic day . The best trip for me was paradise island wow amazing place the boat ride the speed boat just an all round great trip for everyone. The orange market is an experience not to miss you can barter with them and get a good price . Delboy at no 37 is a good one for dropping his prices. If you go see him. The entertainment is a bit hit and miss some good shows and some not so good. The kids are well entertained lots for them to do. All in all we had a great holiday and would go back in a flash can not find fault amazing place .

just a quick review until i get more time, we stoped at hvgb 12 may til 26 may there was a party of 11 as we were to get married out there. after reading the reveiws we did not know what to expect when we got out there, we booked 4 rooms one of the rooms the air con did not work but the hotel had 4 guys there in minutes and had it fixed, that as the only snag we had on the whole holiday the only thing that spoiled the holiday was the english or some of them (no i am not canadian iam english) some of them were rude, insulting and went on like a bunch of total idiots at times we were ashamed to call ourselves british. the firstchoice staff and the hotel staff were amazing.the dominican staff are so nice and will do anything to help you as long as you treat them with a bit of respect its not to much to ask is it. all in all the holiday was fantastic the wedding was out of this world and i would recomend holiday village to any one

“Smoke Here, Smoke There”

Holiday Village Golden Beach

May 29, 2008

We stayed here Week of May 18th. The resort is advertised as a family friendly/child friendly resort. And generally it is... BUT unfortunately they allow smoking pretty much everywhere on the resort including the restaurants. So if you or your child has any breathing difficulties, this is NOT the place to go, because you can be sitting in any of the restaurants and odds are that someone next to you would be puffing away. As previous reviewers have said, accommodations are not the greatest; we also had little ants marching around in our room. Otherwise staff is great, and if you don't have a problem with the smoking bit and you have a child, a good place to go.
