I recently returned from an amazing trip to the D.R. and spent 5 days at Maxim. I went with a group of 6 guys and 2 girls. We rented 4 bungalows which would be known as Presidential Suites anywhere else - 2 master bedrooms with jacuzzis off of a huge living room, dining room and kitchen. The balcony overlooking the property and ocean was sensational.

The grounds are hug and share the beach with another resort that is more family oriented. Nonetheless, the night life was happening and the resort had a great community feel.

Maxim arranged some top-notch excursions for us like a private plane to their yacht and a day of sailing. There was an incredible amount of additional excursions that we didn't have time to advantage of - jeep tours, atvs, river rafting, etc.

All in all, this was one of the best resorts I've been to in the Carribbean!

I went down to Maxim Bungalows with a group of friends. I was surprised how beautiful the rooms and grounds were. Every amenity was thought of in the suites flat-screen TV's, iPod Stereos, etc. There was nothing that we were left wanting. The staff was extremely helpfl and appreciative. They have several beautiful pool areas from small and private to big and public. The lounge chairs are cushy and it is like a very hip, cool & fun Miami/Vegas pool scene. The main restaurant is run by the same guy who owns Asia de Cuba and China Grill in NYC. They have activities available for active clientele even an outdoor hockey rink! There is also a "sister" resort next door where we could access their restaurants and amenities which just added to the options of things to do. The spa is top shelf and I can't think of anything that was flawed in our experience! Each bungalow has a concierge and ours set up an amazing trip, providing drivers in brand new SUV's who took us to a private plane which took us to the Maxim Yacht in Caso de Campo and we all felt like we had an incredibly fun, luxury experience. Absolutely wonderful stay! The accomodations and service were of superior quality. I hope to return for a second stay soon.

This resort is just a short trip from NY. It's just as easy as Miami or Puerto Rico but it's less crowded and feels much more remote. It's a short flight and the resort is not far from the airport. It was even easier because the staff met us at the airport and handled our baggage claim and customs entry while we sat in a lounge and sipped cool drinks. It made the trip effortless!

We were a group of 8 close friends and stayed in 4 amazing bungalows. The accomodations were extremely comfortable and luxurious with a seperate livingroom and terrace equipped with comfortable furniture. Every room had a docking station for an ipod (Thank God!) so my music was with me wherever I went!

We spoiled ourselves a lot on this trip. We had a fully catered breakfast every morning in one of the rooms. The food was delicious and the staff was increadibly gracious and accomodating. We also chartered a small jet and flew to the other side of the carribbean and spent the day on a gorgeous yacht.

The property is huge and there is always somone to drive you around in a golf cart. It was perfect for a morning run too! There are flowers everywhere and it's hilly so it was a good challenge for a morning run.

Since the property is so large it's a must to explore every pool area. We discovered the best pool at the end. It was on the oposite side of the reception coming from our rooms so we didn't see it at first. It is beautifully designed with covered cabanas, beds and a waterfall in the pool! We also loved the pool by the spa. It is very zen there.

Down the beach a newly renovated restaurant is quaint and delicious. It's a cool local vibe where you get to know the crowd in 10 minutes. We watched a local kite surfer do jaw dropping moves by day and by night the place became a party with our upbeat group of friends and their gracious accomodating style!

This resort is well suited for groups or couples and is perfect for a last minute decision to pack a couple of things and GO!
