I went with a few girlfriends for Memorial Day weekend. We had a wonderful time!
Positives: * Beautiful property. It's definitely what you would like when you go to an island. The landscaping was just butiful :) I love that the hotel has two properties. One geared to families and the other to adults. Of course, we stayed at the adult hotel but it was good not to have to deal with kids running around and so forth.
* Service! The people are really hospitable. Solomon at the front desk took great care of us. (I read another review that said negative things but he was absolutely GREAT to us).
* Our room came with little gifts that went a long way and was very thoughtful (i.e. towel shaped like a bird, bottle of rum, cigars, fruit basket, etc).
* Activities. The hotel has activites planned. They had pool dances during the day and things such as karaoke at night. It was fun! And they have a casino, theatre, etc.
* Misc. My friend left her portable DVD player in one of the restrooms and one of the staff returned it to us. The honesty was very much appreciated and we were extremely grateful.

Negatives: * Not sure how to explain but the rooms have this moisture in them...it may be from the humidity but nothing ever really dried.
* The service on the property was GREAT except for this one girl that worked in the buffet/restaurant. I didn't catch her name but she was just rude.
* I'm the type that loves the jacuzzi and sauna. These two were in a bit of a seperate area and closed entirely too early (6pm) for a resort.
* Food. I didn't enjoy the food in the snack bar/buffet at all. Almost everyone had the runs when we returned home. The steakhouse and room service was pretty good/okay though! I forgot the name... The service at night (after the club hours) was not good either.

Just a tip if you are visiting DR...Please be sure to bring OFF. The mosquitos are fierce! LOL

Best of luck!

“ONCE WAS ENOUGH”

I am in full agreement with the folks from Atlanta. They could not have described it better. We stayed May 31-June 7 and I was happy to come home. While the beaches and resort are lovely, there is nothing to make up for the inedible food and loud anamation team. It was nice to visit but once was enough. Oh! And the transfers to and from the airport? SCARY!!! Do not trust everyone's wonderful reviews. While the main buffet claims to have theme nights, every time it all looked the same. I don't go away just to eat but I do not want to starve either.
ITS BETTER IN THE BAHAMAS!!!

Ok, first let me say that this was my first resort trip, ive done alot of cruise's to alot of different places because i dont like to fly, so take my review for what its worth. The resort is very nice, very well maintained and landscaped, the beach is clean and they pretty much keep it raked everyday, that being said all of this is being done by the people getting paid 7 dollars a day and receive no tips because you never run into them, wich is the way it should be but they are the only ones who deserve it. The housekeepers do ok ,but you will have to fight to find a washcloth. I really think there is no difference between VIP packages and whatever else they offer because everyone seemed to get the same thing, no matter what ,(example) vip passes get the beds on the beach, and it was basically first come first serve. You will not get served your drinks on the beach so plan on walking back and forth to the beach bar, i really did not mind ,but it was kinda expected. The liqour does pour but dont expect anything topshelf ,but it does the trick, and the Greatest bartender, is in the lobby his name is Emilio he's very entertaining and alot of fun. The Animacion group is very annoying and very loud , so if you expect to just lounge quietly at the pool forget it. FOOD FOOD FOOD if you can pack a suitcase full of Hot Pockets id think you would be better off, The buffet never changes, and everything is pretty bland, some of it i could not describe even though they tried on the little cards above the food , but i dare anyone to prove to me that actually was chicken. The a la carte dinner joints are as follows Mare Norstrum seafood, ive had better at Long John silvers, and it takes to long to get served, Tex Mex steakhouse extremely terrible wait staff and the meat is just nasty. dont remember the name of the Fondue rest but it was actually pretty good, not to many complaints there, but i think we got treated a little extra nice because the waiter fell in love with one of the girls that was with us. for the most part stick with the buffet you will find something to sustain you all week. The all adult aptmosphere is nice and i met alot of people from alot of different places from around the world that was neat. Fill your week with excursions but dont expect to see much on the drive to and from just trash , dogs and nasty hanging meat. I had alot of fun because of the people i was with so it was worth it, but i wont be back to the princess or the dominican.

“This place is AWESOME!”

Punta Cana Princess All-Suites and Spa Resort

Don't believe the bad reviews this place is awesome. We just returned from our honeymoon May 30- Jun 6, 2008. I wanted to write a review as soon as I got back.
We arrived on a Friday, when we got to the hotel check-in was a breeze. We booked a Platinum package(definately the way to go). The hotels website didn't have any platinum packages available, but we were able to book one on Bookit.com.
I am in the food business, so good food is important to me! The food here was good. It's not great and it's not San Francisco or New Orleans, but the food is good. Even finicky eaters will find something they like here. The ala carte restaurants were better than the buffet, generally, but the buffet was good as well.
We also got married at the resort. It was a wonderful experience. The staff could not do enough for us! Even when it was raining the day we got married they moved us from the beach to the lobby and made everything great.
I can't say enough about the staff at the Punta Cana Princess. One thing we did was take alot of 1's and 5's in US currency and tipped everybody. We were treated like kings. What most Americans don't understand is if you treat people with the respect they deserve in THEIR COUNTRY, they in turn will treat you with courtesy and respect. I have traveled all over the world and the Dominican people are some of the best we've ever encountered.
If you want to have a great no stress vacation book the Punta Cana Princess!!!!!!!!!

“Do not go.”

They are running a bait and switch. We booked for adults only, small resort and paid for Platinum VIP service. When we arrived, we were there were no rooms available and they were transferring us to a sister resort. They tried to make it sound like they were upgrading us but we had paid for the upgrade already and did not want to go to a large resort. We personally met 4 other couples that had the same thing happen to them and were also very unhappy. We could not believe it - and that's just the few people we met. Imagine how many others it happened to. When you complain the staff just look at you and say there is nothing they can do. You needed to use a trolley to get around the resort. which is very inconvenient. The housekeeping was not good - once our room still was not cleaned by 5:30 and once by 7:00 pm - both times we had to call for housekeeping. We called for towels 3 times another time, and never got them. Food was OK but certainly not up to the rating. There was supposed to be butler service on the beach, but we never saw anyone the week we were there. Definitely not worth the extra money. We were very unhappy with this resort and would never go back or recommend it to anyone. We have been to 3 other facilities in Punta Cana, and would recommend any of them.

We wrote Bookit (who we reserved through) to complain and never got a response. Once they have your money they do not care.
