“Fantastic Resot”

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana

May 18, 2008

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana:

Overall: The resort is massive, the rooms are large and clean, the pool is amazing, the decor of the lobby, rooms and restaurants are very nice.

I would recommend this resort to anyone.

Things you should know:

(If you are travelling with small kids)

1. Milk -- we were never able to find traditional cows milk for our kids, it was either Soy or Rice. You can ask for their version of Nestles Quick to put in it to change the taste but if i had to do it again i would have brought powdered milk.

2. Apple Juice: Can only be BOUGHT at the store for a ridiculous price.

3. Snacks: Great snacks for adults and teenagers however having small kids ( 3 and 6) they really didn't want anything being offered, i STRONGLY recommend bringing enough snacks to last you for the entire trip, we had brought some but not nearly enough for a whole week.

4. General Comments on the Food
--- you're in another country so remember that when you are eating, it's good but not what i would classify as "excellent", well not at the buffets anyway. Mind you the other more formal restaurants foods were much tastier.

5. Sun ---- sunscreen sunscreen sunscreen, make sure you bring enough you will be using it everyday no matter how well you tan.

6. Tipping: Goes a LONG way on service if you tip. We left $2.00 U.S. every day for our maid. At meals we typically tip 1 or 2 dollars and it really seemed to matter.

7. PHOTO'S -- I know it sounds cheezy to get your photo's taken at these places but i have to tell you, their photographers were AWESOME!

Overall i would recommend this for a great vacation.

What the hotel is lacking:
1. There are lots of adult games that are taking place throughout the day in the main pool area but nothing really for kids.

2. The castle swim area for kids which is far away from everything should just be removed, it didn't really appear to be anything great. We didn't even bother going in.

3. Food for Kids -- In the buffet section they really need to dedicate one station to the kids, there were a lot of kids there. They also need to learn how to make more kid friendly meals, like a grilled cheese sandwich would have been nice for the kids.

4. Beach -- full of seaweed not as blue as on the Carribean, this hotel is on the Atlantic Ocean.

Overall Great Holiday, would go again and trust me i'm fussy.

“No complaints, very good experience”

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana

I feel I owe this to readers planning their trip since Trip Advisor was so helpful for us. We read some scary food reviews a few weeks prior and thought of switching and are very glad we did not. This is our 4th trip to DR and the best resort so far. We went May 11 thru 16, 2008

Just to give you an idea our review is based on the fact that we are in our mid-40s going for a quick 5 nights w/out kids. We really just go to do nothing. We love the sun and only one of us drinks. The beach is one of our favorite and we have been to Jamaica, Mexico, St. John's, Hawaii, etc. and it once again didn't disappoint us.

The usual arrival with the $10 per person entry pay for a piece of paper and give it back one minute later. A few stops at other resorts on the way to ours. The room was not ready at 1:30 but we were told to eat and come back. We chose to go book our dinner as suggested on TA. One lady at the desk was telling people the LeGourmet was booked for the whole week. We went over there and got in at 7:30 that night and again on Wed at 6:30 and reserved at Japanese for Tuesday at 8pm - 6:30 was already taken. we asked for 2 there on recommendations that it was real good but only got in once. LeGourmet the first night we both got the shrimp salad, pumpkin soup, chicken and two different desserts. The stuff with the chicken was a little heavy but overall very good meal. The second time we did the tenderloin that was highly recommended and it was better. I also did the other soup - lobster and that was very good. Japanese was a good meal also. We went to the steak house the other two nights and went with the Chaeteaubrind as recommended and that was very good. The second time I tried the meat on skewers and it was covered with bar-b-q sauce and I should have stuck with the tried and true but it was not bad. My husband had the grilled pork chop and that was good he said. Service is good although they don't ask if everything is okay once you get your food!! But it was. It was nice to have proprtioned meals and not buffet. Very nice to see the ocean at the steakhouse. We had no stomach troubles. we don't drink anything but the bottled water. As said, my husband said the wines were eh but they were very prompt to keep the glass full at all times. Same with saki at Japanese. Fried ice cream was good. No dessert on menu at steakhouse but a buffet type to pick from. Overall, we have had way worse at all inclusives and enjoyed going out each night compared to others always needing reservations and having hard time to get them.

The room we e-mailed Richard prior but not sure that that helped. We were in Bldg 2 2322 and it was a pool view. The higher the number the closer to getting an ocean view looking to one side. I am a smell person and these rooms had no musty smell. I brought room freshener and febreeze for the bed but did not need any of it. This was a first compared to other places and very pleasing. We did tip one day to see if we'd get flowers but to no avail....only on our arrival. We used the bottle water to brush with always.

You can get bottled water at any bar which was real nice compared to plastic cups at other places. Not being a drinker this was a plus for me.

We never used the pool but it is like the reviews say. We don't need shade so at the beach we didn't need a hut but did see them reserved early with towels. We go to bake ourselves and never use them.

Our tv remote didn't work; we took it before the Michael Jackson show and when we came back there was another one that worked - that was the only thing that we had go wrong!!! Don't know what others complain about. We don't go expecting the hotel to be in charge of our entertainment. We finally went to the MJackson show after all these visits, it was entertaining - had forgotten all of his songs!! But our typical day was breakffast, lay on the beach, clean up dinner and done.

The walk to the shopping huts on the beach took about 2 hours round trip w/getting t-shirts. We did do our pictures by one of their photographers on the beach and they do a great job. but it's $10/picture or $10 each pic on a CD. Go thru the pictures and say yes or not to them and then they will negotiate. We had two printed and got a CD with the rest. It does work at home thankfully. We were able to walk in the other direction farther and saw some new resort going in.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay and was very pleased with the resort. We would return there. I would recommend Bldgs 2 or 3, getting dinner reservations right away and having a positive attitude!! Oh yeah, the bathroom towels are like sand paper though - the beach towels were softer and after a day in the sun they were rough that would be our one complaint - not bad though. We saw a wedding each day and they seem to take great pride in their weddings.

Hope this helps someone - any questions are welcome.

“Magical at the Majestic!”

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana

Despite a 20 hour delay and a night lost because of Sunwing airlines, arriving at the Majestic Colonial more than made up for it. The pictures don't do the place justice, because it is more spectacular than it looks. Although the resort is so huge, it never once felt crowded, even at the busiest time of year. Service is always with a smile, and there is always so much to do. Even for the pickiest traveler the hotel offers a wide variety of restaurants with something for everyone. I never had time to get sick of the food! We never got sick at all and we drank the water and weren't careful of what we ate. The rooms are spacious, but I was still not sold on the open concept bathrooms. My best friend and I opted to use the bathtub as a towel rack. The fridge is always stocked and we always left a tip in the fridge. We later learned that our maid at the beginning of the week was taking the tip, so be careful! You never have to leave this resort. They have on site entertainment, a casino, a dance club, and even shopping! Although this time around we didn't take a tour, there was plenty day trips to choose from. I travel a lot and I don't normally visit the same place twice! I will definitely return to the Majestic Colonial and highly recommend it!

“loved it”

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana

May 17, 2008

I just got back from my vacation at this hotel. The hotel was beautiful and the atmosphere was excellent. I stayed on the hotel premises for the seven days I was there. The entertainment , poolside activities with the Animation Team, massaging spa, taking professional pictures on the beach and poolside. There was just so much to be done there. I never had to leave hotel only to go purchase souvineirs for my friends back at home. Most and formost I will like to thank a couple of your employees there. Jackilin Cedaro Capilona from the breakfast and lunch caferteria. She made sure my day started of well eating. George Fierriero from the Japanesse Resturant. He was very friendly and polite and finally Tony and Melvin from the Animation Team.

“Left a wedding ring and got it back!”

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana

We had a great stay at the Majestic Colonial. Here's a run down:

STAFF - EXCELLENT!! Especially Richard Morillo! My husband left his wedding ring inside the safe after we cleared everything out. We realized it on our way to airport and called the hotel immediately. Francisco from the front desk remembered us and looked into our situation and called us back within half and hour while we were at the airport. I was on email with Richard there after on a daily basis trying to figure out the best way to get the ring sent back to us. Richard responded to me quickly, professionally, and frequently til the day I received the ring back. Kudos to Richard! Denny, the waiter on the beach was also wonderful! Marisol from the Buffet always greeted us and rushed to prepare tables for our group of 14.

Hotel & Pool - Beautiful grounds and clean rooms. Long pool with lots of huts around. Quiet areas, noisy areas, musical areas, organized activity areas, bubbly areas, wet bar area, etc.

BEACH - Plenty of huts available considering it was Spring Break week for us. Clean beach and calm water. Snorkeling was fun out by the bouys.

FOOD - Most of the food was good. Steakhouse was the best, Gourmet was second, Buffet was always great backup plan. The lines at the buffet moved quickly, especially at the omelet station. Some foods could have been labeled though. We didn't like the Carribean or the Chinese restaurants.

EXCURSIONS - We did the Zip Lines. FUN! Our kids were aged 9-14 years and we had adults too. Our 6 year old did not go but she could have. The staff was professional, safety minded, and strong. We also did an ATV and Dune Buggy day. There was a big confusion over how many ATVs and Dune Buggys our group needed. We had to wait two hours! It was very upsetting. When we finally did get going, we had a great time.

SHOWS - We only saw two shows because they began so late, 10pm. Most of us were too tired by then. The Circus was the best, and the Michael Jackson show was okay.

ROOMS-We had 3 adjacent suites. They were very clean, big, and comfortable. We contacted Richard on-line before hand and requested our 3 rooms to be next to each other.
