A friend and I stayed at this little hotel for a week in spring of 2006. It's nothing fancy, but at $45/night we found it a solid value. The managers, a young couple, speak English and French, and were welcoming and helpful. Other staff members mainly speak Spanish, but they were patient with our attempts to communicate. Room was basic but pleasant, with wide doors opening to a balcony and a nice view of the grounds. No A/C, just a ceiling fan, which made the room perfectly comfortable in the evenings (we were out at the beach or pool all day). Beds weren't the newest or comfiest but they were adequate for us (two women in our 30's). The bathroom was simple, and the shower tended to splash onto the sink/toilet area, but there was hot water and the place was clean. The pool was clean and the grounds simple but well-kept. (FYI: the "hot tub" isn't hot--it's tropical-style, with jets but cool water.) The lobby is open to the air, with a few tables and a small selection of drinks available from the check-in counter. There's a tiny, rocky beach about a two-minute walk away, with a miniscule island you can swim to. It's a 5 or 10 minute walk to the town's bigger white-sand beach, where local boatmen hang out and will take you to other nearby beaches. You can also reach these other (spectacular!) beaches on foot, with hikes from about an hour to half a day. If you're looking for a full-service resort, this isn't it. Breakfast is available, but otherwise you're on your own. There are a few board games and a shelf of old paperbacks (mostly in French), but no organized entertainment. Happily, that's exactly how we wanted it: we are not "resort" people! As adventurous, low-budget travelers who wanted a little bit of comfort at a fair price, we had a good time and would definitely go back.
