Though this new hotel in Samana has charming accomodations, its location makes it difficult to find. Once out of the mainroad you enter a dirt road in marshlands! The taxi driver had to cross pudles of water and said that he wouldn't pick us up for any money. When we arrived, I hand them my credit card and they said that they did not have the machine, though they had asked me for the credit card number by phone. The owners said that we would have to go back to Samana to get cash, which meant another $50.00 in taxi service!
The owners' claim that it was an all included hotel was false. There is no food provided during meals and the included menu left us hungry! We meant to stay two nights but quickly changed our minds. They tried to charge us the two days saying that they had turned down other reservations. Guess What? The only people staying at the hotel were us and one other guest. They tried to get us to pay $60.00USD fo the Christmas (24 Dec 2004) dinner (Wasn't it supposed to be included?).
They said that they had a Disco (not included int eh price) which never opened and that they would have live music, which again was false.
We weren't served breakfast because we woke up at 10:30 a.m. though places to eat were nowhere to be found. We didn't get any luch either. Finally we almost had to force them to get us out of that marshland to get a bus to Samana town.
