Coral Cove Cottages & Apartments

A friend and I shared a 2BR/2BA cottage in October, while another couple had the 1BR cottage right next door. All of us were delighted with our choice of accommodations, and would absolutely return.

Coral Cove is located in Lance Aux Epines, a quiet residential area nearly Prickly Point. Our cottages were not fifty yards from water's edge, with an ocean view from every room. The accommodations are simple, but nicely appointed and immaculately clean. No air conditioning is present or needed, as there was always a wonderful breeze. The entire back side of the cottage is an enclosed veranda, with windows and screens running from end to end for maximum air, light, and view. The sound of the sea lulled me to sleep nightly.

The 2BR included one king, and one set of twins. There was also a rollaway bed tucked into the corner of the veranda, so you could sleep an entire family here.

The kitchen was well-equipped, including coffee maker and toaster, and the management will graciously stock your kitchen with provisions before your arrival, if you wish.

The ocean-side pool made for lovely afternoons after our mornings of scuba diving. The huge dock has shade and benches for relaxation, and steps down to the sea for swimming and snorkeling.

There are handy touches such as fresh-water showers for rinsing off the sand and salt before going into your cottage, and a clothesline right outside your kitchen door.

The king-sized bed was a little firm for my taste, but there were extra pillows (rare in such locations, in my experience), and the linens were always fresh and clean. Closet space was generous, with plenty of room for both hanging and folded clothes, and for storing luggage.

Bathrooms were large, with walk-in showers and lots of countertop and undersink storage. Water pressure was good, and the hot water supply was more than sufficient for us (larger groups might need to allow some reheat time if everyone is on the same shower schedule).

We used the room's small TV for viewing our digital photos each evening, but my friends next door also discovered the one local channel that provided some weather information and local news.

The housekeeping service at Coral Cove was probably the best I have ever encountered in my travels. Every room was immaculate, and even the dishes were washed daily.

This is not a wild party location: the cottages are quiet and serene, in an idyllic setting that feels secluded but is still convenient. We drove daily to True Blue Bay for diving, and the drive was about 15 minutes each way.

Grenada has a number of upscale, expensive resorts, but I wouldn't have traded locations. Coral Cove is a terrific value. We paid $750/week for the 2BR ( this was low-season, which runs from mid-April to mid-December).

Booking was a breeze, as I contacted Damien Noel via email after visiting Coral Cove's website. I give Coral Cove a strong recommendation, and would definitely stay there again.

I had stayed at Coral Cove two months before 'Ivan' hit the island.
I returned to Grenada on family business having booked another place to stay. It fell through and it was a good thing that I remembered Coral Cove.
The lady on the 'phone said, 'yes', you can come, we have a room'.
I arrived later, very tired and hungry and everything was ready for me. It iwas clean and very welcoming.
The maid service is superb, with fresh flowers each day. The owners/managers are like family. They attend almost every day and are very helpful and kind. They never trouble or harasss you which is excellent.
The views, ambience and location are some of the best in St Georges, if not Grenada.
I am taking my family again next year and whenever I visit Grenada, Coral Cove is always the first place on my list to stay.

“Stunning location, peaceful haven..”

My fiancé and I spent a fantastic week at Coral Cove in March. You couldn’t ask for a more picturesque location! There is an amazing view from the top of the hill overlooking the ocean. The staff were very helpful and accommodating.

We stayed in one of the cottages on the beach. A fully equipped, detached cottage with kitchenette, lounge area and covered veranda. The Spanish style cottages are simple, yet very comfortable and the lack of air-conditioning is no problem at all as the cove is blessed with a continuous sea breeze.

If you are looking for swimming or snorkelling, its best to make a trip to one of the bigger beaches e.g. Grand Anse as the cove is pretty shallow. But being the only apartments on the cove, the beach is very quiet and most days we had the whole beach to ourselves!

We would recommend hiring a jeep, as there aren’t any shops or restaurants nearby. We hired a jeep with DABS car rentals, who dropped the jeep off at our apartment and collected at the end of the trip. We travelled round the island and found a number of beautiful deserted beaches, stunning coast lines and a trip into George Town is a must.

If you are looking for somewhere quiet, relaxing & remote, Coral Cove won’t disappoint.

“Lovely location on pretty island”

Coral Cove Cottages & Apartments

Stayed for 2 weeks in July 2006 with my wife and our 2 kids (aged 12 and 14). We were in one of the two-bedroom cottages which have a definite wow-factor when it comes to the location looking out over the ocean. Even my seen-it-all kids were seriously impressed. Cottages are spacious and well maintained although perhaps slightly tired in some aspects of furniture, pots/pans and cutlery. These were just minor detractions in the context of the overall facilties -lovely gardens leading down to the ocean, great-fun 150' jetty into the sea (snorkelling off the end is OK but not amazing, very good for beginners). A decent swimming pool and tennis court adds to the package.

Before arrival I had been concerned about the lack of air-con but in fact the steady ocean breeze plus ceiling fans were absolutely fine and far more pleasant (and healthy) that an air-con unit blasting out all night.

We were there in the Caribbean "low/rainy season" and therefore the rates were very reasonable - check the Coral Cove website for all relevant pricing. I have only been to the Caribbean in the high/dry season prevously and had been concerned on the weather but in fact we got just as much sun as we have ever done - it is just when the rain comes down, it really comes down!

Staff and management at Coral Cove could not have beem more accomodating and I thoroughly recommend this place to couples and families alike. It is quiet so do not expect a hectic social life! Like most places on Grenada you really need to a hire car to get to the best beaches and restaurants (I booked with Y&R who were OK). There are taxi's and minibuses but the care hire rates are reasonable, and for us Brits they drive on the "right" side of the road (note it is also Brit electric plug sockets and 220v as well).

The money you save on the reasonable accomodation rates will be required to help your restaurant bills, like most of the Caribbean dining out is pricey (dinners typically USD40-50 per head) at the most the popular restaurants though there are cheaper options as well. I would recommend the Beach House and Aquarium for atmospheric and quality dining, food is also good at the Red Crab but not with the same ambience. Rhodes at the Calabash and La Luna are very nice but not really worth the extra in my view. Cheaper-eat options include "Southside" near Grand Anse, the Boulangerie (good value for lunch and take out pastries) also near Grand Anse, pizza at Prickly Bay Marina and the Choo Light Chinese is OK as well.

There's not a huge amount of sightseeing (or shopping) opportunities on Grenada but visiting a couple of the waterfalls can be fun and La Sagesse beach was our favourite. The island is small - around 50 miles by 15 - but the roads very windy and of variable quality - a trip to the north of the island was too much for our kids to endure.

In all a thoroughly satisfactory holiday and do put this place near the top of your list of options if you are looking at self-catering in Grenada. It seems to have a much nicer location than many of the hotels we saw.
