“Loved La Source!”

Having read some comments on the forum before we left I was worried that La Source might not be ready by the time of our holiday. However, we needn’t have worried; from the minute we were picked up at the airport in the hotel's luxury limo until the time we left my husband and I loved La Source, Grenada and the warm, friendly people.

The hotel rooms were lovely and finished to a very high standard. Only the front part of the accommodation, on the beach, was completely finished when we were there. However, the building work was completed and they were just finishing off the interiors. Everything else in the resort was finished except the interior of the office building and the boutique. There were only about 50/60 guests staying when we were there, but we didn't mind as it meant that people were very friendly and staff extremely attentive.

The food and drink was of a very high standard with a choice of eating in the more formal upstairs dining area or Oscars, the beach bar restaurant. Again because it was quiet we never had to queue or wait for a table.

There is entertainment every night; usually a group or singer or a DJ and some of the singers were very good. A member of staff is on hand in the piano bar every night before dinner to welcome new guests and introduce them to other guests, which I think is a lovely touch.

All of the staff in the resort extremely friendly and helpful and the ladies who manage the spa; Hazel and Rose were very good at changing spa treatment times to suit guests. We were delighted to discover they were from Scotland as we were the only Scots staying at the hotel. Most of the guests are from the UK and Canada with a few from the USA and we met some lovely friendly people.

We didn't do a huge amount of exercise as we were there to relax, but there is so much to do if you want to. The guys who run the diving school came round the pool area each day to see if anyone wanted to go out on the boat or snorkel, dive etc.

We would love to return to Grenada and would definitely stay at La Source again.

LaSource Grenada

LaSource, Pink Gin Beach, Grenada.

I have just returned from what was the most amazing holiday I have ever had. I have a wide experience of hotel throughout the World and this one ranks as one of the best.

Pure relaxation and luxury with only the very best service. Without exception all members of staff were courteous, friendly and gave amazing service. If you are a fan of Grenada you will know that the LaSource resort has recently been refurbished following Hurricane Ivan's devestation some years ago. The Hotel opened it's doors again in February 2008.

The architecture and the aesthetics of the new LaSource needs simply to be seen to be believed. It's situated five minutes from the airport from where you are transfered in the Hotel's luxury stretched Limosuine. What a way to start and indeed end your holiday.

Everything is included when you arrive. Apart from excursions etc I didn't spend a penny all week. You even get a daily treatment in the Oasis Spa included in the price. The gourmet food is simply a delight and would compare to any first class restaurant in the UK both for taste and appearance. Again this is all included in the All Inclusive rate. The three bars are very well stocked also with ALL famous name drink of which an unlimited supply is available everyday.

The pool area and the beach is simply idilic as you gaze over the clam waters accross to St George's Bay.

I would recommend LaSource to anybody who fancies a trip to the Caribbean. It has given me a whole new outlook on life and I will certainly be returning next year.

What are you waiting for... get it booked!!

Thanks LaSource for a genuinely wonderful holiday.

“A World Away”

LaSource Grenada

It’s been quite a winter here in the wilds of Canada and we could not wait for early March to arrive so that my husband and I could head south to Grenada to LaSource. With our hearts set on returning to our favorite island of Antigua this year, we found ourselves unable to make that work so our travel agent suggested Grenada and when she said “no kids” at LaSource, I said, “Sold!”

We knew we were taking a chance – it was supposed to reopen in December, then January and finally it did reopen four weeks before we arrived. I read some reviews that indicated ‘issues’ with unfinished aspects and service problems, but most of these were worked out by the time we arrived there on March 3. Some of the guests who had been there for a week already regaled us with tales of empty swimming pools and a day without water, but that was all a distant memory by the time we arrived.

The place is essentially new. The staff members are essentially new, with differing backgrounds and levels of experience. That and one 24-hour period without hot water (a bracing cold shower never hurt anyone) were the only down side to this wonderful week.

We spend seven glorious days with a very small group of like-minded people most of whom we had a chance to meet (there were only 59 of us souls there that week). There were only six Canadians and I think we counted fewer Americans. Most were English and Scottish – wonderful companions for a week of sun, surf and pampering.

We stayed in a luxury beachfront room with its marble floors and bathroom (which was large by nice resort standards), new furniture and wonderful view of the surf from the extremely comfortable king-sized four-poster bed.

The water and sports staff were excellent, one of whom actually got me on the sea biscuit behind one of the wonderful LaSource boats in spite of my fear of the water coupled with wind and large (in my view) waves. Stanley assured me that he would not want me to have nightmares and that he would keep me safe. He was true to his word and when we return, I will let him take me out on a Hobie Cat sail boat. He was not the slightest bit pushy – just wonderfully persuasive. My husband could hardly believe it and scrambled to get the video camera after the guys told him he was welcome on the boat. A Wonderful experience.

The food was especially unexpected for its high quality. We’ve been to many resorts in the Caribbean and this one had the best food – beautifully presented dinners in the main restaurant where we ate on the balcony every evening and even in the beach bar where we ate lunch just feet away from the sparkling water. We are not big eaters, just the kind who like food that is both visually and gustatorily appealing. We were not disappointed.

The Center pavilion that evidently used to be the buffet has been transformed into a Zen-like space under a canopy of Caribbean-styled wood beams with comfortable sofas and a very pretty bar. Some evenings found music and dancing there while during the day a few people seconded themselves on curved sofas with plush pillows to curl up and read a book out of the sun while still enjoying the breeze. There is also a computer with fast enough internet connection for guest use in that area.

The spa is quite wonderful as well. With a cadre of very new staff, the treatments included were very interesting – and I can see that several of these young people will truly become good at what they do over time. Their cultural demeanor does not permit them to be as gregarious as some out there might like – but a smile and a few rods from you and they will return it in kind. The spa leaders have chosen their staff well. Even my spa-virgin husband enjoyed every last one of the treatments and will have more when we return there next year which we surely will.

There is much more to say, but I think you get the picture. I almost didn’t want to write this – I really don’t want to try to book for next year and find that it’s full!!

“Excellent resort!!”

Just returned home from a week's stay at La Source. It was a great vacation. The rooms were nice....large closet with shelves, small balcony, large bathroom, four poster bed.- they are still working on the building behind the ocean front one. The resort was not full (there were around 50 couples there) . All the resort staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. They went out of their way to be accomodating!!
The diving wasn't spectacular at the resort, but the dive crew were very friendly and we felt like we had made new friends. The dive boat was in great shape. They offered water skiing, tubing, and knee boarding as well. That was tons of fun!!
The freshwater pool was very refreshing...although they were having a small problem with the pump (but they are working hard to repair it.....and the pool was still functional everyday we were there.)
The food was OUTSTANDING....it was the best food we have had at any resort. There were plenty of choices everyday. The restaurant by the beach bar seem to be less formal and had a smaller selection to choose from. The bars and drinks were great and the bartenders were fun!! The wine selection was impressive for an all-inclusive resort.
We were there for a friend's wedding and the wedding on the beach was very nice. The wedding co-ordinators (Dennis and Chenalle (sp?)) were great.
There was quite a bit of wind while we were there...so we spent more time by the pool then on the beach. However, the waves were not so big that you couldn't swim or snorkel. They still have a breakwall of boulders out in the water to keep the swimming area calmer.
The spa treatments were quite nice and they were very good at accomodating changes to your time if you had something else planned (although maybe that was because the resort was so far from full). The boutique is not yet open.
The provide internet service free of charge for the guests at a computer in the main lounge area.
You could not possibly be bored at this resort....between daily spa treatments, walks, tennis, archery, diving, yoga, pilates, biking, water sports, water aerobics, tai chi, etc, etc, etc, there was lots to do for everyone.
We had a really nice time at this resort and hope to return again.

“Best holiday ever!”

I returned from La Source this morning. From the moment I arrived there people could not do enough for you. The staff are all very courteous and helpful and the management are very hands on ensuring you are happy. Since they reopened there have been some teething problems but again, these people are are working very hard to conquer these problems. The whole hotel is beautiful, the food first-class and the spa offers some of the best holistic massages around! I have already booked to go back at the same time next year.
