“Not Great!”

We spent New Years at Hedo III and being a first timer found that the service was horrible! The party was great - the rooms were clean (when we could get into our room!) and the food was wonderful. The first 2 days we had to have someone let us into our room cuz our key did not work. I felt like a 2nd grader asking to access my room. Had some problems with a few single men thinking they could touch and grab any time they felt like it - wrong answer guys!!!!! When we spoke with management about these men we were brushed off. We were on the pier one night and had 2 natives hovering and wouldn't leave when asked politely so my husband and a few others escorted them away. Same answer when we spoke to the management. I guess they really don't care if their guests are harrassed.
Food was pretty decent - especially the specialty restaurants! New Years was a blast! About 85% of the guests said the service had gone downhill since 2006. I guess we'll try somewhere else next time.

“The weather, people and food GREAT, the facility dismal”

One can be subjective or objective and since we found our experience a combination of very good and not so good, we'll attempt to be as objective as possible in hopes of assisting other's in their decision process.
Firstly, we have been to many resorts both with and without clothing optional and for the most part we are considered easy to please and have never written a review or felt the need prior to this vacation.
General Observations: It is important to note that front-line staff are not the focus of any negative frustrations as their smiles and sincere desire to serve guests made for an overall fantastic atmosphere. Actually, these individuals were the best part of the vacation!
Most are young and in need of "coaching" as was evident throughout the complex, but their willingness and smiles take the sting out of long delays i.e. in getting that morning java fix or a spoon to stir it. But we wondered, where the leadership was as this resort appears to be in a state of transition?
Overall the food was very good and plenty of it including lots of variety to address even the fussiest of eater's..save and except for the lack of fresh fruit which was reported to be a result of past hurricanes that damaged the citrus crops...but we have doubts as their sister resort, had an abundance during our one day exchange visit.
Other small anoyances included yogurt one day and not the next, along with the (unbelievable) beer shortage for a whole afternoon, go figure.
The property in general is very nice and unique given the smaller size or area of coverage that allows for privacy and solitude that can be found without venturing very far. We never felt crowded but the plain and simple observation; this is one resort in need of a full face-lift. It's tired and worthy of two and a half stars. The draw for many is the clothing optional component and as long as sex is is the driving force, we suspect that renovations will be delayed in leiu of collecting the revenues. Bathrooms are old, run-down and often water-less as shower's often have a mind of their own in terms of not only hot or cold but water or no water. It may be that when the sprinklers are on to water the grounds and plants, the guests must wait depending upon your rooms location. The rooms are adequate in size offering decent beds, towels and in-room safes for valuables. However, another tremendous frustration was the lack of consideration in terms of the noise and volume associated to something one could argue is hardly music, whether eminating from the disco until five a.m. or the stupid "rock-like" speakers located throughout the grounds and adjacent to the front door of your room. One may not be critical if the sounds were tasteful and included a range of styles or what might be expected in the Carribean, raggae, but such is not the case as the choice of both day and all night long seems to be constant and intense "head banging" rap-like garbage that calls for a full supply of Advil. Even the entertainment is unusual. One night you can be absolutely spellbound by the wonderful performance of a terrific steel-drum group or terrific vocals and in-house band but the next night, we had the greatest urge to pass a hat and raise some money to assist talented performers without the backing to get the show together. Even the coordination of events and their location was poorly orchestrated as there was a great central open area that would have made a more suiting location for the stage.
This resort has the potential to be really excellent and to provide for that special (suitable) balance to address the needs of both the totally uninhibited or the more mild types that worship the sun in birthday suits, but it fails miserably for many including this writer.
I suspect from our discussions with many of others, we aren't alone as even some repeat "long time" guests see this as their last visit for some time until management or better, the ownership at this resort awakes to the realities. The first lesson for all business is that your best customer are those that you already have. At a couples rate of over $400. per day, this vacation missed it's mark and unfortunately didn't have too if only some common sense, a few renovation dollars and good planning were implemented. It's truly a shame as all the amenities are right there, the people, their culture and the beautiful sun and island of Jamaica.

“Hedo, what an experience”

I am a person who had never been anywhere in her life. We landed in Montego Bay and from then on out had the most wonderful experience. From checking into the hotel to checking out of the hotel, we as guests didn't want for anything. The staff is amazing. We stayed with hedo III for 7 days and had the most amazing time. From the food to the rooms to the entertainment we were completely satisfied. Every staff member was polite, courteous and couldn't do enough to make sure that everything was okay. Now the entertainment staff. OUTRAGEOUS, that's one word to describe them. They kept us entertained for our whole stay. I want to say a special thank you to Furnace. He helped make our group stay even more special. One of your staff from the water sports even gave me some sunshine to bring home with me, I felt very blessed. We will be back and more than once. I felt very at home there. Walk good.

“Wicked as you want to be”

Ottawa Ontario

Just came back from our first week at Hedo 3. Despite some apprehension at first we came back relaxed which is what a vacation is for.
We flew down from Ottawa via Toronto with Westjet and were delayed several hours due to weather in Toronto. Nevertheless after clearing customs we were met by a Superclubs rep near there lounge and our luggage was whisked onto the bus. We just had time to check in and grab a drink from Margaritaville before we left for Runaway Bay. There were two couples going to Breezes and four going to Hedo. The bus driver pointed out the sites along the way and we stopped once for a refreshment break. An hour and a half after leaving the airport we were at Breezes and 10 minutes later we arrived at Hedo. We quickly checked in and were settled in the room and at the bar in short order. Saturday’s dinner was served on the prude side terrace buffet style and afterward we went back to the bar to watch the show. The staff works hard putting on the shows but for us the bigger shows were seeing what costumes people would wear for each theme night. The first night was glitter night with plenty of gold lame in fashion. It appeared that some people had put a lot of effort into their outfits and it was usually the same ones every night that had the costumes. Additional entertainment could be found later in the piano bar and disco until 3am and at the nude pool until 5 but as I was diving we never participated so cannot report. The next morning after breakfast we did a walk about before finding a place to stake our claim to two chairs. Claiming chairs is important on the nude side as it seem much of the prime pool real estate is claimed before 5am. We preferred the beach over the pool as shade was readily available as well as sun when desired. I take my hat off to those who spent the day around the pool without succumbing to sunstroke.
After the first day we developed a routine where I would go dive while my wife read by the beach. After diving we would let the force of sand gravity take over and we relaxed and read on the beach. Aside from diving the only time we left the resort was to eat at the Sushi bar at Breezes.
As mentioned at the beginning we were wondering what we would experience at Hedo III but I must say that things were fairly calm, There were a few extroverted exhibitionists who had to perform for a crowd but most laughed it off and continued reading or relaxing. Again since we didn’t visit the disco we cannot say what went on later but most of the people we met were of the same mind as us who just wanted a romantic relaxing week. My wife never felt threatened when I left her at the beach and she was only approached once and asked if she was there alone. No pressure at all as most of the couples were only interested in each other and escaping the cold of Canada or the northern states.
The prude side which is at least three times larger than the nude side was virtually deserted during the day except at lunch time. We saw one couple using the pool which is a shame. The food was average with nothing really outstanding. I was surprised that more local food was not offered as Jamaica has quite a few tasty dishes. The manmade nude beach was very small and became crowded in the late afternoon but the water was refreshing and the floating cushions were quite useful. I was very happy with the free scuba diving and this was one of the options that attracted me. Normally it costs me $90 for a two tank dive so I took advantage of it and did 10 dives. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly and while large fish were scarce we saw several turtles including one around 50 yrs old, some rays, barracudas, and even a dolphin.
The rooms were a nice size and clean with plenty of mirrors for those worried about keeping up appearances. The whirlpool tub was a nice touch and it allowed you to get all the sand out after a day at the beach. All in all our goal was achieved as we came back relaxed tan-line free. Although the resort says no tipping we feel that no good service should go unrewarded and a dollar bill here and there discretely handed out is good for all. Sorry for going on so long but I hope this relieves any worries some may have about visiting Hedo III.
