“Ok place to stay”

We stayed at the Royal Decameron Club strickly for the price. We had read reviews regarding not getting the room that was reserved. This happened to us. We were put in a "hotel" room, since our Garden View Bungalow was not available. "Soon" was all we heard. It took 2 days and much proding from us to get us the Bungalow that we had paid for. We received no compensation whatsoever or even an apology.

For the price it was okay. We can stay anywhere in the Carribean for the weather and the beach, but this is not a place I would return to.
Most employees of the RDCC were trying to sell us "Bob Marley" . They were very persistant about it, as though it was a business for them.
Food was average. Very bland and seemed under cooked. If there was beef on the menu one night, the next day they would use the left over in beef tacos. Food all started to taste the same after 3 days.

If you want an inexpensive vacation with over an hour bus ride from the airport, then this place is for you. If you are looking for good food and good accommodations, you may want to look elsewhere.

“Overbooking Nightmare”

Unfortunately, a bad experience. They acted like everything was O.K., with the A.I. bracelets on the table, but after the card cleared, they tell us that we have to stay at another, inferior resort the first night. It was a sneaky move, and, to boot, they refused to compensate us in any way for the entire week. We did return to the resort the next day, and stayed for the week, but being displaced was unsettling for a few days-it was a bad vibe.

I later found out that this resort does this regularly, and there were many people who have been pissed off like this. So I guess RCI doesn't maintain much of a standard with certain resorts.

For this reason I'm not going to comment any further (other than this warning) about my stay here, since the management acted so unprofessionally.

“~Perfect Vacation ~”

I stayed at the RDCC with some friends from April 5-12, 2008

What a Great Resort with lots of character and GREAT PEOPLE.
After reading a lot of reviews from this site, I found it to be even BETTER THAN EXPECTED. Personally a marble floor in a Skyscraper does nothing for me, so if that’s what you are looking for Please move on and go somewhere else.

Courtyard Rooms ~ My friend ended up having a Courtyard Room on the first night, and my first thought was are these the rooms that everyone seems to complain about??? Cause they are not that bad at all !!! The next day, she was moved to a garden view cottage, no problem, this is Jamaica

Garden View Cottage ~ they are very cute and cozy….everything you need is there, they are clean and rustic, like a home away from home. The grounds and the gardens are also very beautiful and well taken care of.

The Food ~ was very good, always fresh with lots of variety. Both a la carte restaurant are unlimited, just book early in the morning.

The Activities ~ and Water sports I was very impressed with the many activities included at this resort, if you book early in the day
It was “no problem” doing what you wanted to do. The Catamaran and the Glass Bottom Boat was so much fun.

The Massage ~ is a must, what a great way to start a day……getting a massage while looking out at the ocean Very Nice. I also got my hair braided at the Hotel’s Hair Salon.

The Beach ~ is a bit rocky, but there are still some pretty good spots……you just have to explore the different coves, and see how each and everyone of them is special in it’s own way. Bring water shoes; you’ll need them for the Dunn River falls as well

The Staff ~ is just WONDERFUL, they know how to take care of their guests, and they will treat you like a friend, not a Room number.

The Jetti Bar ~ was one of my favourite spot to hang out and have drinks, in the evening, George will be there to take good care of you, George is The BEST Bartender on the Island , just spend a little bit of time at the bar and you will soon find out why. Make sure to have a Bob Marley and a Firewata ;-) oh, and lot’s of Red Stripe.

The Quiet Pool ~ is a great spot to relax, with a small bar, what could be better.

School Visit ~ We also went to visit and bring some school supply to a school about 10-15 minutes away from the resort
what a great experience that was, EVERYONE should do this !!!! If you want to make a happy difference in someone’s day
Try it……
Long distance ~ can be made from the room for $1.20 a minute with a $20 deposit, they also have Internet service in the Lobby for a small fee.

The Gift shop ~ also has everything you need, souvenirs, sunscreen, name it, they got it……and just outside the resort you will find a Drugstore, Grocery Store, Bank Machine, Souvenir Shops, and lots of taxi services.

In retrospect, the Value for your dollar at the resort is excellent
And remember your vacation is what YOU make it
So enjoy yourself and relax
I will be back in November
Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions

“Jamaican Delight”

Where do we start?

If you want 5 star for 3 star prices then don't go here.

If you want good accommodation, good food, good drinks, and good staff to look after you then definitely go here.

A big thanks to all the jetty staff where we spent most of our days and nights sunbathing, drinking and watching the world go by. A special thanks to George (what a legend, Top man) Sharky and Albert who made our holiday a very special one. The cottages are very quaint, a bit dated but kept clean and tidy with the towels changed daily.

The food was good, with plenty of selection although there were some complaints that there were not enough days with chips but we didn't mind this at all, but if you want burgers, hotdogs, chips etc you can get them at the snack bar every day.

Can't really comment on the entertainment as we went for a quiet holiday and spent most of our time at the jetty bar. The entertainment staff appeared to work their socks off though and we didn't hear anybody complain.

We visited Dunns River falls by catamaran, brilliant, definitely do this. Kingston with the Bob Marley museum, a long day but well worth it. Ochio Rios and the market is good fun, if you have been to Narmma Bay in Sharm el Sheik, this is a doddle. The people are very friendly and if you say no thanks politely there is 'no problem'. Regarding the Ganja, yes you will be asked regularly but just say no thanks and you will be left alone.

When you visit Jamaica you must visit the local areas and meet the locals, they are very friendly and very much appreciate you taking the time to go out meet them.

Shells Cafe
We went across the road outside the front entrance to 'Shells Cafe', Kevin and Shelly and their two lovely children Alison and Alicia will treat you like one of the family, very special people. You will get Red stripe in the bottle (lovely), and the food is typically Jamaican and superb. Go and try it and have fun seeing and meeting the locals, can't recommend this enough.

Reference the trips. The ones organised by the travel operators will cost you more than using the locals but be careful if you use some of the local taxis to make sure they are registered. One guy to do the tours is Delroy, very nice guy, very reliable and reasonably priced. If you want good value then please use him.
Pop across to Shells cafe and ask if they can contact him for you.

Would we go back to Jamaica and the Royal Decameron? You bet; we loved it, especially popping across the road to Shells Cafe

My husband and I just returned from our second stay at the RDCC. April 07 we stayed for 7 nights and that just was not enough so we returned for 10 nights this April 08. No matter how long you stay it is not enough!! We also brought another couple with us this year and they were just as thrilled with the RDCC as we are!! All 4 of us are talking about next years trip!!

We just love this place ,the staff is wonderful, we actually had 3 staff members remember us from last year, now that impressed me!! The little huts keep bringing us back because they are more unique and private than the hotel style rooms. The resort is small and personal enought the you see the same poeple over and over so you meet new friends every year!! We like the food and think that there is a nice variety.

For the second time we had Jimmy (taxi driver on the resort) take us into Ocho Rios shopping. He is wonderful to show you the sights and points of interest!!

The entertainment crew had changed since last year, but were all wonderful and did a great job!!

The jetty bar was great as always!! FYI if George yells "FIRE WATER" .......run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HA HA!!

Too all the staff at RDCC, hope to see you next year!!
