I read all the reviews before I left and I was expecting terrible service and very pricey... I did not... I thought the service was very good... it was slow but everything is slow below Maryland compared to New Jersey. The service at the pool was not great but it was not that big of a deal. The service and food in the Italian restaurant was very good. I thought everyone was nice and accommodating. The concierge desk was not the friendliest but they did help us when we asked. The front desk did upgrade us to an ocean view room when we asked.. I don't think I would have enjoyed myself as much if we were on the city side... The town is not all that nice but we did manage to find some good restaurants to eat at … although I would not walk around by myself there. all in all, we had a very nice time.

This hotel is under construction. Some one should have told them to fix the elevators first. My husband and I were going up to the 10th floor on the pool side elevator ,when it got stuck for 30 mins between the 9th and 10th floor. The elevator as bouncing up and down, I really thought the cable was going to snap and we would shurly die. we pressed the panic butten several times and the people would hang upon us. we rang the bell...nothing. I was relly upset by then. luckly my husband was their to calm me down. he got up and some how pulled open the doors and pushed me out. my husband was pretty mad so we went down the stairs to the lobby and asked for the manager and they gave us the securety manager. We said we were leaving and all they said was for us to fill out an accedent report. my husband said their better be a gm here by the time we get back down with our stuff. luckly when we came back the night manager was their and they told us they would comp everyting. we went to another hotel and calmed down. the next day we went back to get a recept. All they did was comp one night and the cheepest night at that. we are getting a lawyer to help us with this one.

“Skip Condado and San Juan”

Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino

If you're looking for beaches skip San Juan and head for somewhere else. This hotel is still under renovations - exterior painting on balconies and generally all exterior surfaces. Although the rooms are very nice and clean the extras they charge for and prices in general are very high. As it seems with other reviews I to fell victim to an extra $10.00 per day in taxes that I am having my travel agent investigate. I paid $50.00 per nite extra for an oceanview room only to see painting scaffolding outside my balcony for the weekend. $50.00 to look at and hear ropes slap against the building - yeah that was an upgrade. The pools and pool areas are nice and well maintained however the beach seems and afterthought. The pool area is non-smoking at least to anyone other than spanish speaking guests - they just ignore the policy. Forget about drinks and food at the pool area - you'd think this was a Four Seasons (price wise) - NOT. This was my first and last venture to other than an all-inclusive hotel.
I usually stay at Iberostar Hotels and will definitely not stray in the future. If you want the best bang for your buck - investigate Iberostar Hotels in Mexico - they are much better than this property or area.

I would like to thank you for your stay with us. We will take into consideration all of your suggestions. I do want to make clear that the renovation process of the hotel was completed a couple of months ago. We have been painting the exterior of the hotel, but this is regular upkeep work. I wish that you would have let us know that this maintanance work interfered with your stay as we would have gotten you a room away from this. If I can be of any further assistance, please contact me. Best Regards, Henry Neumann Hneumann@luxuryresorts.com

“Absolutely Fantastic”

Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino

Apr 14, 2008

The Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino is an absolutely fantastic place! It's hip, funky, and stylish with also a very practical twist. The rooms are fairly priced and I found them to be clean, nicely sized, and well maintained. There were also two nice pools (one even had seats at the bar) and the other one was of salt water which I found to be unique. It seems like the over-haul has worked and they are really trying to live up to high standards.
The staff is incredibly caring and I found them to be quite conscientious about their guests. Yes, there was a small wait for check-in, but no more than 10 minutes and once you were helped things went smoothly and efficiently.

The concierge was very helpful with trips, and they have a great assortment. I highly recommend the Catamaran snorkeling trip.
It was fun, the people were great (leading the tour) and worth it!

The beach at the hotel is fantastic because it's protected and very easy to swim and snorkel there. I also found the location to be convenient to Old San Juan. A cab ride is very easy.
Overall, I was sad to leave and would definitely recommend this hotel for one who is seeking relaxation, rest, and just a mellow time in Puerto Rico.

“Slick, stylish and efficient”

Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino

5 of 5 stars
Birmingham

My husband and I spent 5 nights at the Condado Plaza for our honeymoon and were really pleased. It may not be an obvious 'romantic' choice for a honeymoon but we'd been recommended it by 2 sets of friends for its good value, location, efficiency etc... and I dont believe we could have chosen better anywhere else in San Juan (maybe the Ritz Carlton but, 5 times the price!)

Firstly arrived on a 9am flight, check in was not until 4pm but as I had previously enquired about an early check in our room was available straight away. Secondly we were upgraded for free to a gorgeous ocean view room so we were doubly pleased straight away! The room was great - slick, modern, spacious, loads of room in the bathroom and lovely comfy bed and lounge area. The hotel is in the final stages of renovation but at no point did this interfere with our stay.

All the staff were friendly and efficient. The reception staff quick, helpful and we even witnessed them deal with a lost child in a lovely manner. The bar/restaurant staff at the Aqua pool bar were friendly as were the concierge, travel desk and bell boys. We never had to wait more than 2 minutes for a taxi which were hailed from over the road.

We ate at Aqua bar for lunch (very nice salads) and had a meal in the Strip House which was superb - sultry burlesque decor and fabulous steaks. There is a wine waiter too who was very knowledgable and not at all patronising like some i've experienced.

The casino is average - they dont have a texas hold 'em table so we went to the Marriott one night to play there. They have roulette and black jack though.

The hotel is only about 5-10 mins in a taxi to Old San Juan traffic pending ($12) so not far at all. Old San Juan was beautiful with its cobbled streets and colourful shop fronts but I actually quite like the fact we could 'escape' from the hussle and bussle. Within walking distance from the hotel are numerous restaurants and designer shops (Gucci, Salvatore Feragamo, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Mont Blanc etc...) and boutiques.

I would definately stay at this hotel if I were to go back and would recommended to all demographs.
