I had stayed at Condado Plaza about 5 years ago, on business. We decided to return for vacation, since I heard about the renovations. All in all, I think they did a great job.

The only complaint I have is that it takes forever to check-in and out. It seems they should have more front desk reps on duty, especially on the weekends. Also, the showers didn't seem to be designed with much thought. The door opens right into the "closet" area, and ours also leaked a bit.

In general, we enjoyed our stay. We had an ocean view king room. It was very quiet at night, since we were on one of the higher floors. Room was clean and comfortable. We only had a couple meals in the hotel (breakfast), since the prices were pretty expensive. But, the concierge was very helpful in helping us find places to eat. The location is great. Easy to walk around Condado and very close to Old San Juan. There is also an Enterprise car rental office on-site, which is very convenient if you want to explore the island.

Booked the room back in October 2007 continued to follow the rate and when it dropped called and asked for an adjustment. My credit card was then billed for the full amount again. Took two more calls to get this resolved.

At check in, one night post cruise, the lobby was an unorganized mess. Waited in one line only to be told that we should have been in another line, took 15-20 minutes just to get to the front desk to check in.

Once we got to our room it was nothing like the red and black room pictured on the website, but hey we're on vacation so we went with the flow. The room was in the Laguna Tower on the 7th floor and it did have a nice view with a balcony.

Later decided to have some drinks and appetizers down at the Aqua Grill and watch the rainstorm. The service was outstanding around the pool area and the views incredible. After a few Pina Colada decided to call it a day since we had a early flight.

Next morning went down to check out and here is where things started going south again. The bar charge was incorrect and so they took a copy of the receipt and said I would be credited the amount of difference. Well here it is 2 days after check out and my credit card has been double billed again for the incorrect bar charges. After calling once again to accounting I am trying to get this cleared up.

This hotel has potential with beautiful grounds and a nice location but because of the accounting hassles I just couldn't recommend them unlike the Holiday Inn Express that we stayed in pre-cruise (See my review on them).

I read all the reviews before I left and I was expecting terrible service and very pricey... I did not... I thought the service was very good... it was slow but everything is slow below Maryland compared to New Jersey. The service at the pool was not great but it was not that big of a deal. The service and food in the Italian restaurant was very good. I thought everyone was nice and accommodating. The concierge desk was not the friendliest but they did help us when we asked. The front desk did upgrade us to an ocean view room when we asked.. I don't think I would have enjoyed myself as much if we were on the city side... The town is not all that nice but we did manage to find some good restaurants to eat at … although I would not walk around by myself there. all in all, we had a very nice time.
