We have spent a total of 3 months total at GATEWAY VILLAS in the past 2 years...we stumbled upon this complex by accident after HUNTING for something affordable and self contained HARD TO find in St. Lucia! Now it is our home away from home! We stayed in the 3 bdrm OLEANDER unit in the garden area - no plunge pool- BY CHOICE. I like having to GO TO THE POOL not fall out the door into one and my kids ( 9,9 and 7 yrs) were a feast for the mosquitos - BE WARNED...bring bug spray or Avon's Skin so soft!
We rented both the 3 bedroom unit and a 4 door jeep from the complex. From office staff ( Janice and Tessa) to the on site gardener everyone was helpful and easy to work with - Janice was there to help us with any on site issues and Tessa dealt with us via email and about bookings.
In 2005 we spent July and August there - It was HARD to leave and come back home. The unit has remote controlled air conditioning in each bedroom and full bathroom in the master bedroom and a shared shower only bathroom for the other bedrooms - the 3 bedroom sleeps 6 comfortably - we are a family of 5 so we had room for friends to sleep over!
Units come with cable TV, radio, phone and a full kitchen - We got a bit of a discount for staying for an extended period of time - but even at the regular rates this is a FAMILY vacation not to miss!
The Jeep we had was an above average quality 4 door 4WD jeep with unlimited mileage and insurance for less then what a SMALL car would have cost from any of the car rental places NOT including insurance!
At least twice a week the kids and I walked to Pigeon Point to lay on the beach or grab lunch - the restaurant inside Pigeon Island (Snoutie Agoutie) is great - they have a book exchange there ( in case you need a new book!) and they have internet available - I suggest the lime surprise pie - it is Sooooo GOOD!
I hooked up internet at our unit (due to being there 2 months) I had to work from there a bit! Not that it felt like work!
The shared pool is great - very clean and we NEVER found it with more then 3 or 4 people at a time.
I HIGHLY recommend this property!
Off topic - just on the island in general we really had a fun - we have family on island and if anyone needs an "islander" perspective on anything I dont mind answering any questions - I can also recommend Taxi's and reputable vendors located RIGHT in the marketplace - there are some that would make your head spin!
