ANSE CHASTANET RESORT
We loved our stay at Anse Chastanet!
We stayed at Anse Chastanet for the second 7 days (first 4 were at Ti Kaye) of our honeymoon in a Hillside Deluxe room 12B on the all-
inclusive “Total Romance” package
Pros:
-Anse Chastanet is considered “upscale”
-Very unique setting and rooms (our room had a lower level with sitting room overlooking the ocean, and an upper level with the bed, and bathroom)
-Anse Chastanet has multiple restaurants to choose from throughout the day so you never get bored of the food! The food is pretty good- not excellent, but definitely very good.
-Anse Chastanet is close to everything that it is very easy to see and do things.
-The coral reef is right off the beach, so the scuba and snorkeling is amazing
-The beach is awesome!! It has these cute little “cous-cous huts” that the beach chairs are under, and you just put up your yellow flag when you want food or drink brought to you. Their beach is waaaaaaaay better than Ti Kaye’s
-The massages at the spa kicked [----]!!They were sooo good!
-Live Entertainment each night
-No locals on the beach
Cons-
-Anse Chastanet is bigger than Ti Kaye (although its not a big resort at all) so the staff does not try to know your names. It did not seem as personal and friendly there.
-While the rooms are awesome and unique, they are not totally private (unless you close your blinds) because they sit together. The hillside ones are much more private than the beach levels rooms.
-If you are on the all-inclusive, they make you carry these stupid little vouchers to say you have paid for the activities, and its really annoying
-While the beach is awesome, the sand is volcanic (dark) so it gets VERY VERY hot (as does Ti Kaye’s) you definitely need flip flops!!
- The road to Anse Chastanet is in HORRIBLE shape- I asked why they don’t repave it, and they said because they liked the privacy (it helps keep the locals etc from coming up onto the beach and the property). Thus we took Dramamine every time we left the resort via road.
Activities we did while at Anse Chastanet:
- Scuba diving- we did three dives while at Anse Chastanet… the Anse Chastanet Reef (they make you do a shore dive before allowing you to do others), Fairyland, and a night dive at the Anse Chastanet Reef. All the dives were cool, but the night dive was AMAZING!! It was so freaking cool- we have been talking about it ever since. It was definitely our favorite activity!
- Half Day Sailing- this was cool, it was only Will and I so it made it extra special. We chose to sail towards the south of the island to see the Pitons closer, and it was beautiful. The sea got a bit choppy so we were glad that we took Dramamine.
- Kool Kayaking Adventure- this was a course on kayaking and then you went on a couple hour kayak tour. I did not realize that you could get sea-sick in a kayak so I didn’t take any Dramamine first. So, about an hour into it I was feeling really sick, so we turned around. We still got to see some cool stuff though. However, I would say that this kayaking is for people who really want to seriously kayak. You are expected to kayak for about 2 or more hours, and personally that is too much work for me!! It was definitely more work that I had expected.
- Swedish massages at Kai Belte Spa (Anse Chastanet’s spa) were awesome-soooooo relaxing! I highly recommend them!
- Volcano Tour & Botanical Gardens- well, I am glad that we went, just because it was something on the island to see, but I can’t say that I loved it. The volcano is literally a crater that you don’t realize you are in, and then there is some bubbling black water (which is cool to see) and steam. Its interesting, but if you don’t have the time, then I wouldn’t say go here. The botanical gardens and Diamond Waterfall were really pretty, and we decided to not get in the mineral bath. Like I said, I am glad we went, but we were on the island for 11 days, so we had the time.
- Shopping Trip to Castries-Basically, you will not do any shopping unless you go on this trip, so I am glad we went. But it is expensive to go on ($55 per person) and you really get hounded by merchants when you get there. We spent most of our time in the air-conditioned duty free shops because it was so hot outside.
- Took a taxi to Ladera for drinks- the view is amazing!! We were there at sunset and got some beautiful pics of Petite Piton with the sunset in the background. I would definitely recommend doing this, at least for drinks. I heard Dasheene has great food, but since we were all-inclusive, we decided not to eat there.
- Had a photographer do honeymoon pics of us…this was really cool, he picked us up at Anse Chastanet and drove us around the island (to a waterfall, beach, botanical gardens, and the top of Jalousie for a view of the Pitons) to get pics. We paid about $500 for him to get us (since he lives on the other side of the island) and drive us around. His name is Ray Hardy with Karay Media if anyone is interested. I’m sure the resort has a photographer too, but this guy came recommended.
- We went up and checked out Jade Mountain (they showed us around the rooms) and it was AMAZING- I’m glad we did this on our last day because I wouldn’t want to compare our room to the rooms at Jade!
