I had to stay in Anse Marcel Marina and this was the only "reasonable" hotel I could find in the area. There were many beautiful hotels there but this was the one I could afford. We had a nice room with a loft bedroom with a bathtub and 2 sinks and downstairs we had the livingroom, bathroom with 1 sink and toilet, and a small area with mini fridge, coffee maker, and toaster. There isn't a pool but, if you go to the fancy hotel next door and buy a drink, you can use their pool. The beach is really nice - you just have to walk through the fancy hotel to get to it. The hotel has air conditioning and a big patio with wicker chairs and a hammock and it is quite private. It is a really quiet area but does have a book store, a few gift shops, a small grocery with not much in it but enough to keep you alive for a day or two, and a couple of nice restaurants. There is TV but the channel assortment is very limited. What this hotel lacks is screens on the patio doors and windows (LOTS of mosquitos) and a stove or microwave would have been great. At Anse Marcel you are very isolated and must either rent a car or get a taxi to leave ($15.00 US to go to Grand Case, 20 to go to Marigot) It is very hilly and trying to walk anywhere is impossible from here. Bernard, the manager, is very nice and does speak english even though he answers the phone in French. If I had to stay in Anse Marcel again I would stay here but my preference would be to stay in another area of the island that is easier to get around.
