“Best Vacation Ever”

Turtle Nest Inn

My family and I just returned from our stay at the Turtle Nest Inn. We had a blast. TNI is not a big hotel, rather it is a charming Inn which we much prefer. The owners and staff were most helpful with all of our questions regarding things to do, what to see and where to eat. Our room was the perfect size, even for 5. The kitchen was more than adequate. We made our own breakfast every day and didn't have to clean a thing. The wonderful housekeeping staff did it for us. There was plently to do and see on the Island but there was plenty to keep us busy right on the premises. The pool was just the right size and the beach was a hop from the pool. We participated in some of the best snorkeling on the Island right there since the water lay on top of a coral reef. We even cooked some dinners on the BBQ and ate to the sound of the ocean waves. We were given fresh beach towels every day that smelled deliciously of laundry detergent and softener. I would highly recommend the Turltle Nest Inn for a relaxing vacation.

We just returned from staying at the condo's right next to the TNI.. We decided to stay there rather than the main Inn because with two teen age daughters we liked them having their own room and it worked out well.

This is our 5th time staying with the TNI and I am surprised by some of the recent negetive comments. The TNI enjoys a very high rate of returning guests(like us) and if the conditions were as bad as some of the reviews would have you believe why the high amount of returning guests?

We have never found the Inn or our room to be anything but clean and bright. service is always prompt and if we have found a problem it has been resolved quickly and satifactory.

We love being away from the 7MB crowd, enjoying the old caribbean feel that is quickly disappearing on grand cayman, and the central location on the island.

We are close to world class diving on the east end, two of the island's main attrations and with in a 10 minute drive to good and affordable restaurants.

We love the quiet pool area, the beach, snoreling right in front of the TNI, being able to borrow a cooler, dvd, sporting equipment, or a board game from the office free of charge.

We love the weekly Terrace dinners( likely one of the best meals you will have all week), served by the owners where you can mingle with other's staying at TNI.

We love the discounts that the owners have negotiated with area restaurants and water sports companies where by mentioning the TNI you will recieve a 10% discount ( this discount saved our family over $300 on this last trip alone).

In short we love the TNI and can't wait until our next return.

If you are looking for a place to unwind and surround yourself in the ocean's beauty, then Turtle Nest Inn is the place for you. If you are looking for someone to wait on you hand and foot and serve you fancy drinks with the little umbrellas, then this is not the place for you. If you are looking for lots of stores and lots of commercialism, high rise buildings, and lots of people, then this is not the place for you. If you are looking for the perfect spot to relax, listen to the calming sounds of the ocean as well as taking in all the glorious shades of blue the ocean has to offer, then book your stay at the Turtle Nest Inn.
The cost of living is quite high at Grand Cayman, especially when you take into account the poor exhange of the U.S. dollar. At Turtle Nest Inn you can have the vacation of your dreams! Book yourself an apartment with a full kitchen and save on eating your meals out. We did this and had money to take in some of the tourist attractions on the island. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare your meals. Just stop at the grocery store on the way, and you are set for an easy, breezy, carefree week at the beach. The kitchen and living room area is open with a large slider looking out to the ocean. There is even a balcony with chairs and small tables. It was oceanside dining at every meal. The bedroom also has a slider that pretty much takes up the whole wall overlooking the ocean. You can also access the balcony from the bedroom. What a fabulous set up! The apartment was light, airy, and clean. The beds were quite comfortable. I usually have trouble sleeping on different mattresses when I go away, but not here. Very comfy. The sounds of the ocean lulled me off to sleep each night.
The staff is so friendly and helpful. If you need something, just ask. I liked that they were not in your face, but whenever I asked for something or asked a question, they were so accomodating. When you go, be sure to reserve a spot for the Thursday evening terrace dinner. The food is delicious. As an owner of a restaurant, I truly appreciate fine cuisine. I enjoyed all the wonderful flavors. You will be sure to find Alain very entertaining.
Each day we enjoyed taking out the kayak and snorkeling around the reefs. I have never seen so many colorful fish. It was like a children's picture book down there. Having the pool right there on the beach was an added bonus.
I loved that this area was not built up and overcrowded. Turtle Nest Inn is quaint, cozy, and friendly. Just the place you want to get away to. I can't wait to book my next trip there.
Did I mention that there is also a grill there for your use? If you need any help getting it lit, just ask Vince. He will be happy to help. Everyone there is so warm, friendly, and helpful.

Two girlfriends and I went for our annual getaway and spent a week at the Turtle Nest Inn in #8. We all loved it. There was a small problem with the electricity just as we arrived, but it turned out to be a transformer on the street and they had it fixed within the hour. Some nice fellow a few doors down brought us a flashlight in the mean time.

As described, the Inn is not in the crowded touristy areas, which suited us just fine. I expected rustic and instead got a lovely modern condo with two bedrooms upstairs, fully furnished kitchen, tons of supplies, etc. We even enjoyed the abandoned house next door. Seemed to add some rustic charm. With it's blue and yellow paint, it looked like an abandoned villa on the Mediteranean.

The Inn is situated right between the East and West sides of the island, perfect for sightseeing. The afternoon we spent in Georgetown, while fun, made us aware of how happy we were to be away from the madding crowd. Nice to visit, but I wouldn't want to stay there.

The west and north sides have Rum Point and a few very nice restaurants. Besides just relaxing and catching up with old friends, the highlight of our trip was the boat trip with Capt Dex to visit the Stingrays. Great boat ride, incredible creatures, awesome snorkeling. Just amazing! I saw things I've only seen on Jacques Cousteau documentaries. I'm a little claustrophobic, so diving has never been my thing, but the snorkeling! Fantastic! And some of the best snorkeling is right off the beach at Turtle Nest Inn, and further along the coast to the west side.

One of my friends has traveled the Carribean extensively and she was very impressed with how safe and clean everything was. Of course, there was damage remaining from the storms, but we have that in my home town in Florida, so I didn't think much of it.

The whole time I was there, I kept thinking how much my husband would love this. So much so, that I have booked another room at the Turtle Nest Inn for me and my husband Feb 2009!

“TNI is the best!!!!”

Turtle Nest Inn

My wife and I just returned from a wonderful week at the TNI. I can't say enough good things about the inn. I loved the fact that the inn was in the "boonies" as a previous poster complained about. The last thing we wanted was the tourist trap mecca of 7 mile beach. What we got was peace and tranquillity . My wife and I walked around the town in the evening and felt perfectly safe. If you want to feel like you never left suburban America, stay over at the mega resorts on 7 Mile beach.

We were in Apartment # 4, in the actual Turtle Nest Inn. Right on the first floor, ocean front, clean, comfortable, and just steps from the pool and ocean. It was the perfect spot. We used the kitchen for breakfast and lunch, splurging on dinner at nearby restaurants.

We asked for, and recieved an extra set of bath towels every day. If we wanted clean beach towels, we just placed them on the floor of the bathroom, and voila!, clean beach towels would appear after the morning cleaning. New clean sheets on the bed every other day. (I'm sure if we asked, we could have had them every day!!!)

Although entry to the ocean can be a little tricky due to the rocks right along the shore, once you get out 4-6 feet, it gets much smoother, and the snorkling along the reef was top notch.

Do not miss the Thursday dinner at the Inn if they have it while you are there. Top notch food, great service, and we left STUFFED!!!

The staff at the inn could not have been nicer or more friendly, including the pets. The owners were always on property (they live there) and were available for any reason at any time, all you had to do was ask.

We felt the location was perfect, a short drive to Georgetown and 7 mile beach, or a short drive to the east end (much more rural).

We could go on and on about all the positives. The one negative....we had to leave.
