Bird Rock Beach Hotel

This hotel is located on the Caribbean side of the island and in an upper-class neighborhood. We loved the view from our balcony looking southwest over the water, allowing my wife to be able to sunbathe without leaving the balcony (as well as view the Southern Cross and the Milky Way on moonless nights)!
The staff was pleasant and helpful (e.g. our TV was replaced within an hour after our call to the front desk). Rockies (a steep hike down the steps) had good food -- though a somewhat limited menu -- and the staff (including a bartender who called herself "Sexy Val") was attentive and fun. We were disappointed that dinner at Diana's (at the hotel) was only open from 7pm-9pm and we missed it. We did find a great BBQ shack down the street ("Bary's" -- an 8-minute walk next to the bakery) where we had an "island" meal several times. Farther down the road is the biggest supermarket on the island, RAM's, which was about a 15-minute walk from the hotel. From there you can jump on a local van-bus for a buck and go into town (or walk -- another 15 minutes or so one-way). The bathroom windows were not able to keep the mosquitos out, so I would highly recommend repellent at night. Overall a pretty good deal for the money spent.
We found St. Kitts to be well worth visiting. The island residents were helpful and quite friendly and we felt safe after dark. I was able to rent a bicycle in town for a week and found the drivers (with whom I shared the road with at times) to be courteous.

“A great little hotel for the price”

The menu is limited but adequete. Everything is cooked fresh so can take a liitle time to get to your table. Would definately recommend the All Inclusive option costs can mount up with drinks/food.
snack bar on beach does great little snacks again all freshly cooked.
Staff are friendly and showed concern when one of our party became ill/ room service etc offered freely and promptly.
Rooms although looking a bit tired are sufficient for your needs, air con as standard.
My only critism would be the services at the hotel finish at 11pm prompt cold do with extending it to at least midnight.
Dive school is good offers a good range on dive sites and is run professionally.

“Terrible! Disappointing!”

Bird Rock Beach Hotel

When booking this reservation, we were told we could have the "honeymoon suite" What we got was a plain jane room, sparsely furnished. There wasn't even in room coffee! Amazing! When we tried to get any room service, it was very very poor. The service was slow and the staff exhibited a grim, sullen attitude. The hotel advertises as a "beach"...no beach in site. the food in the restaurant was sparse and unspectacular and very overpriced. We get better food in our diners in the US andthis was supposed to be a more luzurous hotel experience. The caribbean seems to suffer from this type of thing in many places. Unless you pay the top of the line prices like at a place like Four Seasons where the rates are $400 per night or more, you get these terrible conditions. ...and even then I have heard of some really bad service at hotels that charge that much....these people only work a few hours a day here and then at such a leisurly pace we consider it a disgrace. They have NO idea how hard we must work in NOrth America.

“Nice Hotel - good price”

This place was fine.

Location was brilliant - By the coast - with its own lagoon. I think all the rooms have a fantastic view onto the ocean. Also only a short, cheap cab ride away from the airport.

The reception staff were ok, not overly helpful, but did answer any questions we had and arranged cabs for us as needed. They never did answer an email i sent them a few days prior to my departure. We did ask for twin beds when we made our reservation, but were given a king bed too.

The pool was nice. The bar area was a nice touch and even though no staff were at the bar when i used the pool (early evening) someone did come out of the restaurant to see if i wanted a drink. They'll loan you towels for the beach/pool too.

The rooms were a bit on the old side. Could do with some renovation. However, they were kept clean, which is all you need. I think most rooms have a balcony.

Would definitely stay here again, especially at the good rates one can get for this place.
